If this is floating the idea that the death count from Covid in the UK wasn't nearly so high as thought and the Government were involved in a conspiracy regarding the whole thing for the purposes of power...there is one question.

If there was a conspiracy afoot, Why would any government sector let something like this out that would prove it and simply not provide a doctored set of statistics, if that's what they've been doing all along? Why tell the truth now?

Maybe it hammers down the point that a lot were deaths within 28 days of a positive test for any reason.

This way of counting deaths throughout this last year has been ridiculous.

Absolutely sensational stuff.

Cummings would rather be remembered as the cvnt who attempted to bring down the government, rather than the cvnt who tested his eyesight by going for a drive to Barnard Castle.

Boris Johnson thought COVID was a scare story and wanted Whitty to inject him with it on TV. Johnson is even more of a thick twat than even I gave him credit for.

Also, by referencing it, Cummings has genuinely entered the Spiderman pointing meme into the British parliamentary record. Cross that off your 2021 bingo card.

He referenced the 14th meeting where they saw that the data was much worse than feared as the "Independence day Jeff Goldblum" meeting.

You couldn't make this stuff up. lol

Not the question that was asked, but fair enough.

What do you guys think about full size weddings happening? Personally I cannot see it this year.

I have 2 sets of friends that postponed their weddings from 2020. Neither couple will even entertain the idea of a wedding with restrictions on numbers etc, both are absolutely convinced their weddings are going ahead this year and won't hear otherwise.

I personally cannot see the gov just saying "ok go for it" on the wedding front this year.

I'm getting married on the 20th June (Hilarious I know), and overall the wedding industry has been completely forgotten about. Venues haven't been given clear guidance on exactly what can/can't take place, and whilst things are meant to go back to no restrictions on 21st, there has still been no clarification, despite Boris promising that he would give that yesterday.

It takes a decent mind shift to be happy with restrictions, but overall I'm happy with 30 people. No chance I was delaying again!

I can’t get my head around Cummings motive.

Because he thinks the whole thing vindicates what he’s been saying for years, that the whole system of governance in this country isn’t fit for purpose. Hence he said something along the lines of ‘Even if you dropped the most competent people into that situation you would have had a similar outcome’.

People will get giddy about the political angles and that will dominate the coverage but he has essentially said the entire institution isn’t capable of governing a modern day country and we end up with poor talent in key places.

In normal times not so long ago Cummings testimony alone would bring down a government. But I suspect at best it will be in the news for a few days and then it will just disappear.

I can’t believe what he’s saying, and some of it is just unbelievable. Its a lot worse than most feared, and most thought it was a shit show.

It won't make a scintilla of difference to the popularity of BoJo and this government.  They're absolutely fireproof. Their poll ratings will probably go up again tomorrow!

The more right leaning press probably won't even have it as a front cover tomorrow... It will all be "phwoar wot a scorcher, Bank Holiday, ice creams, donkey rides etc".

Bloody entertaining though. He hates Hancock soooooo much, which is alright by me.

Is it my imagination, or is he trying to get in with Rishi Sunak?

It's an interesting one this and it would seem that way. Although Gove is probably under the desk feeding him lines as well...

I'm no fan of the tory government but Cummings is a particularly odious piece of filth isn't he?

Scrambling to place all responsibility at the door of someone else when we know he was involved is a disgusting act.

I hope he suffers.

Weren't they warned about this possibility when he was brought into the fold a few years ago?

Does it matter, do you have a vested interest in Boris keeping his reputation?

He either has a guilty conscious and feels he needs to let all this out (he has admitted he was part of some bad decisions as well), or he just wasnt happy with want went down and is on a revenge trip, but this is good for the public.

Quite the contrary, I am politically left wing and dislike Cummings. However, he's effectively burnt his career in anything political (at the very least a public perspective of him - particularly towards the cult which follows Boris). Which says a lot given him potentially being behind Gove's attempt at leadership in the future
