The last I read Spain are welcoming tourists from the UK with no tests nor isolation, they are desperate for the tourism income.

I'm really split with this, I really want my children to be able to visit in the summer, but everyone over here, at least where I live, has worked so hard to get the numbers down and really followed the rules, the idea of a load of non compliant Brits worries me a bit!

Don’t worry I’m going Greece to be non compliant.

Maybe if they spent the last 200 years building up a diverse  economy through industrialisation and progressive technologies instead of nicking all the gold from south america and sitting on their arses in the sun drinking sangria and eating tomatoes  they wouldn't be so reliant on tourists.

I feel for people living near 5G masts. Look at what they have to put up with.

What I don't get with politics is when did accountability just completely capitulate? Was it trump? Nobody ever, ever resigns anymore, it's like it doesn't matter. There is never any pressure from within one's own party (regardless of which) anymore. And even if there is it's just ridden out until the next scandal hits. How Hancock can go about his business and not have a shred of decency and do the right thing is just indicitive of modern day politics. No accountability, no decency and a complete lack of compassion. It's disgusting.

Before that, they used to resign and then reappear a year or two later, like Madelson etc.
What’s the difference?

I think politics has always had that trail in it.

The difference being how the media reacts and  the perspective from the public of the media has changed.

Maybe. Even so better than the brash, bare faced well sod you who cares if I'm in public office I'll do what I like and never be held to account. It stinks.

I wouldn't know, I've come out here to sit on my arse drinking sangria and eating tomatoes without being reliant on tourists lol

Cases slowly creeping back up - no surprise given the Indian variant activity plus relaxation of some indoor hospitality restrictions early last week

2 weeks before they can see if the case data leads to a notable uptick in hospitalisations (unlikely) and that is about a week before the 21 June relaxation

no need for any concerns at the moment .......

For Leicester its 18-21 year old group so I think primarily hospitality.  It isnt a surge though just a creep up which could easily go down again.

Btw I suppose my thought here is what would happen now if Watergate occurred ?

You’d have considerable amount of the public and sections of the media trying to argue a stronger motive or discredit it all

So 50-75% of cases are the new variant. What I'd like to know is:

1 - What percentage of those testing positive have had their 1st vaccine over 3 weeks ago?

2 - what percentage had their 2nd vaccine over 3 weeks ago?

3 - how many of 1 and 2 are seriously ill?

I'd suspect all 3 are nominal.

Also, how many of those cases can be directly attributed to Boris Chump not banning travel from India.

At what point will these healthy people stop getting these faulty tests?

The media are pushing these 'increased cases' down our throat, and people are actually calling for another lockdown.

Fear sells, and fear is the biggest form of propaganda.

Until people stop testing, this will never end.  Mind you, they'll no doubt use the never ending "waste" in sewerage instead.  Anything to keep the cases rolling over.

Just seen the Chief Executive of NHS Providers on BBC News on rising hospital admissions:

“Chief Execs [of NHS Trusts] are saying the people coming in (to hospitals due to Covid) are a lot younger, they need less access to critical care, they can treat them on general wards, but also crucially that the significant majority are people that haven’t been vaccinated”

Sounds very positive to me.

Agreed.

The vaccine works. We just need to get everyone vaccinated.

Would be a tad harsh to label Peak Prosperity Man a conspiracy theorist. His first six months worth of blogs suggested quite the opposite.I think we have discussed him before.Unless he’s turned full circle.Like you I haven’t seen any of his stuff in yonks.

Yes I quite agree. His meticulous review of research papers and other material in 2020 I found to be a very good guide to the pandemic, particularly in the early days when the CDC and WHO didn’t cover themselves in glory. I’m just saying that as an independent thinker he ended up falling foul of YouTube’s clampdown on anything that didn’t conform. They demonetised his channel, and his Wiki page was deleted, etc, in my view unfairly. He always maintains that he doesn’t do “left and right” (political) but is only interested in “up and down” (scientific integrity and lack thereof).

Had my first jab. :D

Hamilton library are acting as a walk in jab centre, literally pulling people in from tesco when they get a new delivery. Saves travelling to timbuktu for a jab. lol

O I didn’t know you tube etc had stamped down on him.I just tapped his name in and he’s now on episode 4 of his restyled channel.(You’re probably aware of this) but yes I agree with everything you say.He definitely seemed to take Covid 19 a lot more seriously than the UK government. That’s for sure.

The media love bloody scare stories don’t they?

It’s like they’re trying to push us into a new lockdown or cause mass panic.

I’ve stopped looking at the media because they’ll always choose the worst case scenario as the narrative. Obviously just to get clicks. But if you read the facts just because cases are rising (which was always going to happen) doesn’t mean it’s history repeating itself.

There’s a chap on YouTube who runs a covid 19 symptom reporting app that feeds into sage, he does a weekly update providing a very reasoned picture on the state of things.

Worth a watch if you want a balanced opinion.
