No. We'll boo him, as we should. Hopefully relatively good-natured booing, but still, it's the done thing and no less than he'd expect.

Also it might depend who he was playing for. I'm buggered if I'm cheering a Newcastle or Man U player, for example, or indeed any of the greedy six - or seven, probably, now.

If he came back with Real Madrid for a friendly, that might be different.

He’s staying…That’s the biggest present…

Pleased for him. Forced a manager who either doesn't like or rate him through top level performances. Hope he can make an impact, likelihood is he gets little game time. In a weird way he's under a bit of pressure.

You get the feeling it’s a case of “ time served” for going to a casino after going home sick.

Bittersweet. I’m delighted for him but I know if he plays well the offers will come and his head will be turned.

As with almost everyone, his time at City will be finite. It’s just a case of ‘when’, as we’ve seen with countless others.  A good World Cup boosts his value and that’s a good thing.

Congratulations Madders! Fully deserved. It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. The list for our little club  is too numerous to mention but here goes - Banks, Shilton, Whitworth, Weller, Worthington, Lineker, Heskey, Guppy, Maguire & MADDISON. Many more of course but these the ones I know of.

Sorry to dig you out dude but really, this self deprecating 'little' shite does my head in. And we wonder why players leave us when even our own support consider us contemporaries of Cheltenham or Fleetwood or Newport

Congratulation to the lad, very pleased for him and hope he gets a few starts.

Probably too much to hope that he doesn’t get tapped up. As we’re almost certain to lose him at the end of the season, it might be best to drum up some competition to get the best price.

The problem is now that slate gob Kane will be in his ear for the duration blurting sh*te on how he should join spuds… hope he tells him to jog on and not to trip over his chin

Southgate was asked about this and he basically said the casino trip was a non-incident as far as he was concerned. He accused the media of making a big drama out of it. So I really don't think that has ever had anything to do with it.

so a coincidence that he hasn’t been picked since  despite the great form he’s been in?

Hip problems, Other good players, small knocks just at wrong time….

Every manager has the right to hold his choices..

He’s now in great form & proved he can hold that …

This attitude of slagging selection, because we prefer some other choices,is just criticising for the sake of it…Maddison has been selected..!!

Its likely the time spent with all of the England lads, and especially the groups of lads from Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, will make him want to see how high he can go and you can't blame him really if he does want to move come the summer.

That won’t stop this place giving him pelters when he eventually moves on.

It has had nothing to do with his trip to the casino, which Southgate rightly dismissed as a complete non-story.

If it’s genuinely something personal from years ago then Southgate needs to grow up. Absolutely not the right man to be in charge of the national team. Pathetic.

If Madders smashes it in training and England play like they have been recently, Southgate won't have a choice.

He's a wildcard, he makes things happen, even if it's simply drawing a foul in a dangerous area.
