Bittersweet. I’m delighted for him but I know if he plays well the offers will come and his head will be turned.

As with almost everyone, his time at City will be finite. It’s just a case of ‘when’, as we’ve seen with countless others.  A good World Cup boosts his value and that’s a good thing.

I've weirdly celebrated this on a par with a highly sought after signing or some achievement which is probably out of touch with the reality of this but I'm still a hopeless fanatic of England and the World Cup, its what got me in to football and Italia 90 to me is still a huge part of my life. Celebrating Maddison getting in to the squad takes me back all those years.

 

Regardless of how much he plays, how dog shit England are/will be and how horrible this World Cup is, for just a moment it was unbridled happiness and he deserves it, he really does.

Every manager has the right to hold his choices..

He’s now in great form & proved he can hold that …
