Have just been a victim of fraud - £400.

Someone used my debit card details to pay for something at counter till-point (2 transactions, plus also tried to attempt 4 more transactions - but those 4 got declined as I moved my current account money to my savings).

Obviously cancelled the card, but hard to understand how this happened as always shield my debit card when using it in public and only use official secured websites to pay for anything online - I.e., PayPal etc..

Spent five months waiting to find out, did so today. I don’t have cancer. Bizarre mix of emotions.

What a relief, glad to hear it!

Now celebrate by playing The Final Shape next week

Not played D2 in an absolute age. Got miffed during the fishing thing. Think it reset before I could pick up three gold fish and I popped a fuse 😂

You say secured but I woke up one morning to discover £300+ of transactions on my PayPal account. They were excellent in refunding and sorting it out.

When my parents were burgled they took a debit card from a draw, there was no pin with it, it had been destroyed as Dad never used the card and even he had no idea of the number. Burglar managed 3 withdrawals before it was cancelled. It's astonishing how they manage these things.

@Daggers great news mate 👍

Anybody have any experience of selling old tech? I did a big clear out of my house over the weekend and found an original gameboy and like 10 games which I thought I might be able to get some money for. Seems like selling to Cex is the easiest but could possibly get more selling on ebay. Not sure how much it would fetch, was thinking around 100-120?

Also found a signed vinyl single from British Sea Power if we have any BSP fanatics here...

Yep. Music magpie and Amazon trade-in usually. You can get money for virtually any old tech, given the materials are so in demand. Easy process to navigate, simple postage instructions and cash paid to your bank account quickly.

Sorry that happened to you pal.

My wife got a notification from her bank that people were trying to use her card in a Home Depot in Orlando, USA. Thankfully it didn't go through but it is infuriating.

Banks will refund genuine frauds, albeit usually after a lengthy investigation.

The problem is that there is soooo much fraud, and so many people are, regrettably, "at it" (claiming genuine spend as fraud by others) that they have to investigate fairly rigorously, and that takes time.

Mail interception, card skimming and phishing (people clicking on links to fake sites and inputting their details) are some of the main ways that thus type of fraud occurs.

Sadly, it is remarkably common.  Every bank has teams and teams of people dealing with this stuff.

They are at epidemic levels, so much so that when you get a genuine email, as I did recently, you can ignore/delete it.

We are getting one quite a lot recently, that is definitely spam/phishing. It is supposedly from my father in law sending through some pictures that are stored online.

Quite easy to spot it was false though,  he died last year!

Front page headline in one of the rags: "Turd World War". Which I found amusing.

Not brilliant. Everyone I spoke with said pretty much the same thing. There’s a very slim chance of a win, costs to me around £150,000.
A loss with partial blame, costs to me around £600,000.
Full loss, costs to me up to £1.3 million

Speaking with another barrister later in the week, supposed to be one of the best in the country. 30 min phone consultation, £450 + vat

I’m hoping the more I spend at this stage, the better the outcome.
Thanks for the concern, I feel pretty crap atm.

I meant to reply to this week. I attended a construction insurance seminar last week and this was raised as a topic.  There was a recent landmark ruling very similar to yours that may assist.

This particular solicitor does a lot of construction based work and they have represented us in the past.

Having stumbled across some stats on my Garmin watch which confirmed I wasn't far off averaging 10,000 steps a day over 12 months, I finally managed to exceed that figure and how do you think I feel?

Every bit as dead inside as you would expect

Now that is top news. Can't even imagine the rollercoaster you've been on. But great news for you.

There’s a scene at the beginning of Babysitter 2 where the protagonist gets called a pussy and hit in the face with a basketball.

I wanted a gif for a thing.

Do not google “Babysitter pussy gif” in front of your wife.

…Or do, if you’re @Raj
