If it’s the owner investing for the expansion, then the club is still

ultimately self sufficient so transfer budget shouldn’t be affected. Considering the owners have been planning this for years indicates it doesn’t really have much to do with where we finish.

...there is no way we are going to be spending £200m+ on the stadium!!!

We might as well knock it all down and do a complete rebuild as that would be less of an outlay. Where ever these figures are coming from they have been totally misled and the thought of the Owners financing the build is beyond reasoning in this economic time and even without a pandemic £200m+ is fancifull to say the least.

I have no doubt the stadium expansion will be great. I think we’ll also get safe standing. But I think the club will mess it up by putting the safe standing away from the away fans.

What this stand will do is displace L1 standers and they will want to be next to the away end wherever that is in the new layout. They won’t head to ‘the Kop’ or a corner near the south stand just because it has safe standing - their main motivation is the atmosphere next to the away end.

Shift the Family section to where Union FS are now, keep away fans in the North East corner and make the whole of the North Stand (currently the family stand) safe standing for all the displaced L1 people, Union FS and anyone in ‘the Kop’ that wants to stand.

Yeah great idea shift the family stand into the top corner of the kop 😂

You’re right it’s not necessarily realistic to spend £200m on a stadium. However it is realistic if you factor in the cost of a new arena, hotel, private accommodation, separate retail unit and the stand expansion. Why is it fanciful when they spent between £2/3m on consulting alone?

And there we have over £200m, although the arena and fanzone are missing.

Just a note that those images don’t show 16k additional seats looks more like 10k which would reflect the 42k often mentioned

That's right, and we also don't know if this design is what they are going ahead with. It could be an old design, or one of a number of options.

Can't speak for the legitimacy, but it looks relatively close to the stuff we've seen so far. Downwards sloping roof is surely for acoustics.

I agree that when they envisaged all of this that they were very specific in wanting to replicate the acoustics in the stadium, and with the materials on the roof and how they've tied it into the side stands then the noise will be reverberating like crazy hopefully.

Update on when Leicester City plans to move into new £100m training ground
The clubs wants in before Christmas and is in talks with the council

Leicester City FC are to move into a new training ground near Seagrave

Leicester City are planning to move into their new training ground next month now work on the £100 million complex is all but complete.

The club has been developing a 185 acre former golf course site next to the A46 north of the city which it says will be one of the best facilities in world football.

It has released very little information about progress on switching its training from Belvoir Drive, in Aylestone, to the new centre near Seagrave, but council papers published today say the club is to start moving into the new base on December 9.

There could however be a snag which needs resolving before the Foxes get the green light to move in.

When the club was granted planning permission for the complex, it was on the condition that it carried out safety improvements at the nearby crossroads where Park Hill Lane meets the A46.

Residents said the junction was already dangerous for motorists and that extra traffic - players, club staff, and fans wanting to watch matches in the 499-seat show pitch - would make it worse.

The club agreed it would fund changes to the junction before it moved in, but that work has been delayed.

Now it is seeking Charnwood Borough Council’s permission to move before the junction work is completed.

That will see the central reservation modified with a give way line for vehicles turning right into Park Hill Lane.

This would also allow cars or larger vehicles to wait in the central reservation to ensure they do not encroach into the carriageway.

Councillors will meet next week to discuss whether that should be allowed.

Leicester City’s transport consultants have outlined a package of measures they say will reduce the use of the junction by traffic associated with the club and planning officers have indicated that they are content with that and have recommended planning committee members vote accordingly.

The team and the staff will be briefed and reminded to avoid the use of the junction via social media and WhatsApp groups.

There will be more than 180 TV screens and displays around the training ground which will remind people not to use the central reservation.

Those staff who do not heed the message could face internal disciplinary action.

Signs will be placed and surveys carried out weekly to check no one flouts the rules.

The club says drivers heading to the ground from the city will be able to turn off to the left using the slip road but those coming from the north will be instructed to continue past the junction for more than two miles then use the A607/Fosse Way roundabout to double back on themselves and access it from the south.

Vehicles leaving the training ground and heading to Leicester will have to drive three miles north before turning round at the Six Hills junction to return south.

The club has indicated the junction work will be complete by early March.

Up to that point, the club has proposed the 499 seat show pitch will not be used.

amazing - they’ve decided to do what I (and others) have suggested for ages ......just dont use the bloody junction!

They are using the junction, though? It’s just the central reservation that is outlawed. Yet all the council have to is close it. That way, everyone else is as safe as the club members. Insane that it hasn’t happened yet.

They are ?.- they have been told to avoid it by using the two junctions couple miles north and south so that entry to the complex is always turning left off the A46 headed north and exit is to turn left and head north again and then u turn at the next junction to come back south

Yes. But they are still turning off at that junction. They just have to go further up or down to ensure they only ever turn with the flow of traffic, not across it. If the central reservation was sealed, then nobody would be able to carry out that genuinely risky manoeuvre.

I thought they'd started work on the junction? Didn't someone say they'd be past and there were working on it?

Surely the council/DFI or whoever could put a temporary closure on it until the works are complete?

That was me who posted about that. My source was wrong. Won’t happen again. They’re dead to me now.
