ozleicester Posted 16 December 2020 Posted 16 December 2020 Is anyone asking if this is possible again? It was this week in 2015, I came back to watch us head toward becoming League Champions (although at the time i booked (July 2015), i thought i was coming back to to our last season in the prem). 2015 - 12 games - 25 points (24 in 2020) 3rd place - (3rd in 2020) GD +5 - (+9 in 2020) 2 points from top - (1 point in 2020) and i cant remember perfectly.. but im sure "they" said we hadnt played the big teams yet in 2015... but weve done that this year? Time for us to discuss..... Possible League Champions???
Popular Post Foxxed Posted 16 December 2020 Popular Post Posted 16 December 2020 You’re asking this question? After last season? I’ll be focusing on the next match thanks. 20
shailen Posted 16 December 2020 Posted 16 December 2020 It is but let's not get ahead of ourselves. I'd rather we go under the radar for as long as possible and keep picking up results.
Fox92 Posted 16 December 2020 Posted 16 December 2020 Nobody asks if it's possible. We lose a few games and people write us off. Still people question Rodgers. People talk about his contract but if he delivers top 6 again there's no doubt he'll have earnt it. I don't think we'll win the league but it's nice to be in "with a shout" around Christmas time. 2
Spudulike Posted 16 December 2020 Posted 16 December 2020 I'm not sure how this can be considered after that Fulham 'performance'. Still not quite recovered yet and feel much to fragile to think about top 4 let alone winning it again.
Webbo Posted 16 December 2020 Posted 16 December 2020 I don't need the sleepless nights and the fretting atm. Let's start thinking about it with 10 games to go.
Vacamion Posted 16 December 2020 Posted 16 December 2020 I appreciate that it's exciting. We are a very good side, and we could be in the mix at the top at Christmas for the third time in 5 years. However, if we lose to Everton and Spurs (quite possible), you can bet there will be people in here saying the manager is a fraud and we we will be relegated next season. Christ, there were people in the Sheff Utd match thread, a whole week and a bit ago, saying Brendan Out. Let's just enjoy the ride and see where we end up. 2 1
ealingfox Posted 16 December 2020 Posted 16 December 2020 Not even close and you make us look deluded by starting the thread. We haven't played Spurs, Southampton, Chelsea, Everton or Man United yet so the fixtures have been relatively kind as it turns out. 1
Popular Post adam Posted 16 December 2020 Popular Post Posted 16 December 2020 Thats a defeat for us tonight. Nice one. 2 3
LestaAl Posted 16 December 2020 Posted 16 December 2020 Everything is possible but we keep offering poor performances at the wrong moment. ...on a positive we are not drawing matches like the other teams and so that is countering these poor and emotive results. 1
hejammy Posted 16 December 2020 Posted 16 December 2020 (edited) I think if you ever start thinking like this again, watch the Liverpool game again....then Fulham.... Then West Ham Edited 16 December 2020 by hejammy 1 1
Happy Fox Posted 16 December 2020 Posted 16 December 2020 We are missing 3 core players; with Ndidi’s arrival back from injury we have become more solid defensively, he offers that protection to the back line. Justin and Fuchs have done well but Ricardo and Castagne are an upgrade fullback wise, and improve our team ten fold. I do believe we are in a title race with about 5 other teams, Nobody is running away with it, if we can string some winning runs I do believe we will have a chance. But take every game as it comes and see what happens. 1

Had the same debate with my dad last season when we were tailing Liverpool. However, we’ve had a few poor performances but I think just about everyone has so far.
ozleicester Posted 16 December 2020 Author Posted 16 December 2020 to those feeling negative... go to pages around 400 and see what we were saying in December 2015. Our squad is technically better than it was then, the sides around us were performing better. Enjoy it people... we are in with a chance to win the league, I dont expect it.. but i will dream 2
Leeds Fox Posted 16 December 2020 Posted 16 December 2020 It wouldn’t actually surprise me if we were 10 games away, in with a shout... and one of the big clubs (or their fans) sent someone with Covid to somewhere the players frequent or to the training ground. Lord I am a cynical bugger!
LibertyFox Posted 16 December 2020 Posted 16 December 2020 Realistically I think it’s a Liverpool title win again this season, but absolutely no reason we can’t be in the mix for the Champions League. This compressed season is an equaliser, with the lack of recovery time not giving the ‘big 6’ their usual advantage with their stronger squads... hopefully we can take our chance this time🤞
Sampson Posted 16 December 2020 Posted 16 December 2020 After last season I'm surprised anyone is even considering it. I just hope we don't collapse again and can push for a Champions League spot. 4

We aren’t even playing a full strength team and we are 3rd in the table I think that gives some optimism that we can compete for a top 4 place and maybe a title tilt.
HighPeakFox Posted 16 December 2020 Posted 16 December 2020 (edited) So the question posed is essentially this - 'Champions - is anyone (not everyone) thinking about the possibility again?' So, given I can only speak for one person, and knowing the thoughts of a few old friends, the answer is 'yes'. Do I think it will actually come to pass? Highly unlikely. I guess it's the difference between 'can we?' and 'will we?'. Edited 16 December 2020 by HighPeakFox 2

But our players last season quite clearly showed they didn't have the mental attributes to last the course. Even with a lot fewer players out. I hope they've improved that this season. But I certainly think our main goal should be just some consistency across an entire season.
whoareyaaa Posted 16 December 2020 Posted 16 December 2020 it's to tight to call atm to many teams are within 6 or 7 points of the summit, we have to believe we can win it though. One thing I will say is the players should have learnt from last years experience so it is possible we will finish higher than last season
IsItMuzzy Posted 16 December 2020 Posted 16 December 2020 We've already lost more games this season than we did in the entire 2015/16. On so many occasions that season we would turn a defeat into a win or a draw or battle out a 1-0 win. Don't see this side having the same mentality at the 15/16 side. For example don't think the Villa loss at home would have happened in the 15/16 season, not least because Kante would have dispsossed Barkley. Don't think we would have allowed them that opportunity to score. Would love to be proven wrong of course. 1
ARM1968 Posted 16 December 2020 Posted 16 December 2020 Top 4 is the real priority. All teams are slipping up this season. Let’s just get to 40pts eh? 1

Foxes, Southampton, West Ham, Villa and Wolves can dream on, but that will be as far as it will be allowed to go. May be Arsenal may get jettisoned by the other 5, this due to their embarrassment factor?
