2021 Deathlist

Recommended Posts

I often thought Omar Little's death in 'The Wire' encapsulated all that show was supposed to be about. He manages to stay ahead of the drug barons only to be shot dead by a 9-year-old at a convenience store. It recognised the sheer futility of the drugs trade with younger and younger people getting involved who don't share the older generation's rather twisted view of honour amongst thieves. Now everything goes. There's nothing the police can do about it. Omar Little's life was a little like a Sergio Leone western with little things like the whistling when he's robbing people and his calling of the ambulance just after he'd shot and injured Brother Mouzone, believing instantly that the killing of his boyfriend was not Brother Mouzone's style. It was an immense performance.

RIP Michael K Williams :(

Sir Clive Sinclair, aged 81.

Invented the pocket calculator, popularised home computers, made crap cars.

Although, to be fair, the Sinclair C-5 may have been ahead of its time.

A legend of the 80's. The ZX81 brought home computing to the masses and the Spectrum laid the foundations for the software industry we have today.

Have they tried a reboot?

Tottenham v Chelsea later, so I'm sure they'll be a huge amount of emotion and celebration of his life.

And rightly so - in his prime a fantastic footballer . Quite a life story too - loss of a child in early married life, a shoo in for the 1966 world cup but never played, descent into and emergence from alcoholism - RIP Jimmy
