The rumoured price they would want is £25m

Really? That's a strange one. Sign him for £21m, immediately loan him out and sell him for £25m.

I don't understand that at all. Even with the financial troubles in the French league, surely that means capitalising even more on valuable assets.

Ozil has never really suited English football, if that's who Yazici is modelling his game on then he'll do best to go to Spain or Italy, Gary.

Ozil always seemed to play great against City. He was certainly better than Maddison will ever be. Similar positions. Not meant to be a criticism of Maddison. Just comparing a very good player with a world class one. Ozil would have been great with peak Vardy IMO.

some chat that Edouard is now looking at west ham ahead of us.  pretty sure thats just talking the fee and package up. however, west ham could call him their no 1 striker and allow Antonio to rest plenty (assuming they get Europa league).  he will not see that he starts most games here and he could end up third place if vards recovers his form and kel remains at his current level.

If we have Vardy, Barnes, Ihanacho and Edouard , two out of four start on the bench. Flexibility and rotation will be the answer. Perez can only be considered an AM from then on with occasional deputising for Maddison.

Or we could perhaps sell him along with Choudhury and buy one decent player?

Baring in mind Ozil played for Arsenal during his peak years he averaged a PL goal every 5.57 games as opposed to Maddison 4.3 games. He assisted on average every 3.1 games compared to Maddison 5.35 games and overall a goal and assist for Ozil every 2.02 games compared to Maddison 2.39 games.

So baring in mind one was word class in his peak years and Maddison will never ever get there, he already scores at a better rate than Ozil did in the PL and overall he only has to continue his progression and he'll smash Ozil's stats to pieces.

Ozil wasn't one for defensive stats either so arguably from a team ethic point of view Maddison will be more of a benefit than Ozil ever was.

Linked with Tommaso Pobega, Italy U20, on loan at Spezia from AC Milan, Spezia are 14th in Serie A, 3 goals and 2 assists in 16 games as a centre mid

Leicester City ‘in pressing’ for midfielder transfer – Pursuit is ‘serious’, player has ‘concrete’ chances of moving

Currently loaned at Spezia from Milan, Tommaso Pobega is attracting attention from England with his performances.

That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who claim Leicester City, currently managed by Brendan Rodgers, are ‘in pressing’ for the young midfielder.

Arriving in 2013 from US Triestina’s youth, the 21-year-old has slowly but surely climbed the ranks at San Siro, although he has yet to make a first-team appearance for the club.

First sent on loan to Ternana and Pordenone before his move to Spezia, Pobega is also an Italy U20 international, with five caps to his name and two goals.

Aside from all that, he may never feature for Milan under Stefano Pioli, as TuttoMercatoWeb explain the Serie A side ‘value a sale’ and ‘the possibility of the player going abroad is concrete’.

Other than Leicester, who are described as ‘serious’ in their pursuit, Eintracht Frankfurt are also after him, causing a bit of competition for the Premier League side.

One to keep an eye on.

But who was playing up front for Arsenal when Ozil was at his peak? Can't remember, but no one with Vardy's pace, surely. I think he would have been ideal for Vardy. Probably why Wenger wanted to sign him. My point is that his assists would have been far higher playing behind Vards IMO.

Ozil is behind only Messi, Ronaldo and Suarez in terms of number of assists. In fact he's got more assists than anyone 0.39/game since the year 2000. Ahead of Xavi and Iniesta on this metric is some going.

His PL stats aren't that impressive though which was my point, he wasn't particularly suited to the PL. He came to Arsenal armed as one of the most creative players in the world and yet he saw his undoubted ability curtailed somewhat, hence the stats I quoted. He also had very little work ethic so if the goals and assists dry up then there's a real problem.

To answer your other post, the players he had around him at Arsenal were hardly bums. He has Giroud, Sanchez, Aubemeyang, Lacazette etc.

So baring in mind you claim he was world class and Maddison won't ever reach those heights, his PL stats suggest he is already not far off him.
