LCFC 0-2 Man City - Post-Match Thread

Recommended Posts

Not that bothered, especially with Chelsea losing.

The International break has stifled our momentum, especially with 3 mad games for many players. Cags missing was huge today, not only defensively but the way he carries the ball out. We really missed some aggression in defence today.

The positives are that Maddison and Riccardo got some minutes in the bank, its one of those games few thought we would win out of the way and we can refresh, regroup and get ready for the run in.

Some of the reactions in the match thread were ridiculous, they're the best team in the world at the minute and are a class team. Losing Cags probably disrupted our plans and we had to use Big Dan instead, plus Ricardo and Maddison were back from injuries, Barnes is missing, Vardy is out of form etc.

We'd have all taken a draw before the game, the main thing is the other teams around us lose. If Liverpool and WHU fail to win, happy days.

PS. I hope they don't win the CL, their antics and diving was pathetic.

Completely agree!

If a team doesn't give you the time and space to make a pass, or closed you down so quickly you have no option but to either hoof the ball away or lose the ball or that when they attack they come with 4 or 5 players who are better on the ball and are having good game. It's not being negative. What else do these people suggest BR could have done (except the sub taking of kel which I was puzzled with). If we played further up it would have been 4 or 5 rather than 2. These people need to try and understand how good they are and what we tried to do before jumping on the "we were too negative"

BUT their diving and antics and the ref did annoy me but none of that would have changed the outcome

Was always going to be a struggle without Cags, and I would have been delighted with a draw.

I don't think Soyuncu would have made much difference to be honest. Not a slant on him, just because of how our game plan didn't really work or was productive for us. And that in fact is more down to how efficient Man City are all over the pitch.

They occupy loads of space all over and mean no players gets more than 2 or 3 seconds on the ball.

Better than us.

But better than everyone else, too.

The mediawank whenever (Man) "City" are on telly is a bit much.

Our next game is pretty massive.

Totally the right assessment and agree about the media. Disappointed the ref didnt see anything wrong with Walkers challenge on Castagne just before the second goal.

Beaten by a much better side, stood a slim chance of getting something anyway.

However, to finish in the top four we can’t lose any of our next five league games. We have to win at least three and can afford a couple of draws.

Win 4 of the next 5 and we will be in fine fettle

Must be a proper head **** for Rodgers. Set out to contain them and they’ll probably score a couple but we won’t lay a glove on them in an attacking sense (unless you catch them on an off day like at the Etihad)

Throw the kitchen sink at them and we might score a couple but they’d probably score 5 or 6. Don’t envy him in situations like today when you’re lining up against that type of quality all over the pitch (and on the bench).
