It’s ok, Sian Massey-Ellis is the assistant VAR. She’ll keep him right.

The missing piece of the Leicester City jigsaw: Can Foxes lift first FA Cup against Chelsea?

Lifelong Leicester fan Jordan Halford reflects on the club's unenviable record of four FA Cup finals without a win with fans hoping 2021 is finally the year they get to see them add the missing piece of the jigsaw

That was easy 😂

I struggled to put many Chelsea players in there which is weird. Kante over Ndidi for me (was a tight call, and can't have both), Mount, Azpilicueta and went for Werner actually (him and Vardy together could be interesting).

Also had Castagne over Ricardo and Soyuncu over Fofana (for now).

Big shout out to the medical team for getting Evans, Justin and Barnes ready.

But this Kante guy - is he any good? Apparently he only cost £20m

If Evans is a possible doubt, would it be best just not to start him? Don't want a repeat of the last time where we find out he can't actually play through it during the warmup or during the game...

That's a very good point that. Preparation is everything but saying that its down to Evans. He knows his body best. As long as the team is prepared for every scenario it shouldn't rock anyones confidence :scarf:

I always find those calls are tough.

Bit like when Vardy is only half fit. You drop play him and its 'what if?'. He plays and he's shit through no fault of his own because he's half crocked.

Sometimes its just easier not to play them at all or if they were completely ruled out.

This will be tight. Chelsea really aren't that much a rock and roll attack, they don't play incredibly attacking football and thus they surely won't look to go all out and win from the start. They'll want to score one and hold on. We can beat them though. Will be tight.

Cannot call the game, it wouldn't surprise me if Chelsea were to get a comfortable win where we don't really lay a glove on them and they get a goal and see it out but I also think we've got a rare ability to make it count at certain key moments in games.

We don't dominate play and create chances constantly like some teams and we can spend large parts of games looking very very ordinary but we have a few varying types of chance creation that when they present themselves we execute more so than any other team I've seen in recent years.

A tight game suits us I think, we are at our worst when we gift teams a head start.

yes like Ric Flair said lets not gift them any easy goals from mistakes or nerves please. I know we will come back if we did but still settle down early by keeping it tight. The longer the game goes on the more likely we will be the ones to step up in gears. Chelski will get frustrated if they are not dominating. I say expect the strongest team they can put out and prepare for that to the final whistle. Tommy Tickle won't be happy about what happened against the arses so he'll be really grilling his team to not make mistakes and throw everything they got at us to break us down. Our story is so much stronger on so many levels for one its not of entitlement but of passion, suffering, sacrifices, resilience thru tragedy and hard work & dedication no egos. We are the fans favorite.

Starting to picture it being like the Arsenal away game earlier this season, defending brilliantly for our lives then great goal on the counter attack. If we can field Fofana, Soyuncu AND Evans I can see us holding out for 90 minutes against anyone

My worry is on the counter attack, we've been so open to through balls lately. Pulisic and Werner will have a field day

Back three counter-intuitively doesn't seem to help with this - it creates a false sense of security and means players are left to one of the other two defenders to pick up.

We push up too high and get hit on the counter when we get dispossessed. Rewatch the Newcastle highlights and you'll see we concede when Soy, Wes and Castagne are all in their half.

Mendy?

Your starting Mendy over schmeical?

Coin toss out of the 3 really, all have their own pros and cons. I just like a keeper that will at least has a degree of control of their box. I feel like Silva and Schmeichel would be at each other all game as well :D

All players will want to play in the cup final and Evans has deserved his chance to do so. I know he won many trophies at Man United, but did he ever start in any cup finals for them? I really wouldn't know! Regardless at his age he will know such opportunities won't come round too often so will be desperate to start.

I get the point you are making. I remember Diego Simeone risking Diego Costa in a Champions League final where they hauled him off after just 10 minutes, and also think Pochetino made a mistake starting Harry Kane in Spurs Champions League final. But I would imagine that if Evans did break down early, it will be Albrighton coming on at RWB and Castagne going to RCB. Evans is the type of player that could be the difference between winning and losing the game and is one of our leaders on the pitch. For that reason I think he will be risked if he can play through the pain barrier.
