Carl the Llama Posted 12 May 2021 Posted 12 May 2021 Have to say I do fear Chelsea. Since Tuchel's come in they've been the only team outside of the Manchesters consistently winning their games. Saw on the BBC live feed earlier they've only lost twice and had 18 clean sheets in their 25 games since he took charge, that's insane. It's hard to argue with the assertion that they'll turn us over, if you're looking at it as a neutral it's the most obvious outcome. I mean if they don't even concede goals they can't possible lose a cup final, can they? However. Their frontline haven't exactly been firing on all cylinders, in all competitions under Tuchel they've only scored more than 2 goals in a match on two occasions (3-1 vs Luton, 1-4 vs Crystal Palace). This is where I get my glimmer of hope, we've had a few individual moments of madness in recent games but on the whole we're not too shabby defensively ourselves, so as much as we can expect to struggle to break them down the same should be said for them scoring past us. If it's true that Evans will be fit enough to play at full strength then that will only be more true. I have to say I'm looking forward to the Kante vs Ndidi subplot if it does turn into a battle of attrition.
Foxes96 Posted 12 May 2021 Posted 12 May 2021 (edited) Anyone know why Rudiger and Kanté aren’t in the squad vs Arsenal. I imagine Chelsea will line up something like this if everyone is fit. But if there’s any doubt about Kanté that would be a huge loss as you’d hope Ndidi would be able to bully Gilmour and Jorginho physically in the middle of the park. Mendy Azpilicueta - Silva - Rudiger James - Kanté - Jorginho - Chilwell Mount - Havertz - Werner Vardy - Iheanacho Maddison Thomas - Ndidi - Tielemans - Castagne Söyüncü - Evans - Fofana Schmeichel FWIW how I hope we’ll line up. Looks 2 fairly evenly matched sides in both system and personnel to me. My concern is they look to have a bit more experience in their side at the back and middle of the park and more game changers on their bench Giroud/ Abraham/ Ziyech/ Pulisic etc. That said I think we still have a decent chance. trabuch Posted 12 May 2021 Posted 12 May 2021 Tuchel has more respect (and fear) for us than FT does.

I have always dreamt of us lifting the cup since I was a kid and I've watched the likes of Wimbledon, WIgan, Portsmouth and Coventry win it. I never dreamt that winning the league was possible so I never pined for it. Exactly this👍 3

Popular Post Basingstoke Fox Posted 12 May 2021 Popular Post Posted 12 May 2021 Spent this evening watching a few YouTube videos about our history in the FA Cup: I love videos like this of historical events in England from decades ago, especially about our club. This is a playlist of older videos of the club, but is mostly from our FA Cup runs: Also one for the history of "Abide with Me" and why it's sung at cup finals: Despite having a ticket for the final, I've felt somewhat underwhelmed about the whole thing given that our first final in 52 years just won't quite be the occasion that it really should be. However watching these and learning more about the background info, it just shows how we've come so close yet so far on several occasions. I'd absolutely love for us to get that first FA Cup trophy in the bag to complete the domestic set. 5 1

There's no way he makes a comment like that about the likes of Arsenal or Tottenham, for example. My view in general is that the media pundits who played for Big 6 clubs don't really rate us. They give off the vibe that we've got an average team that is overachieving through brilliant coaching and management by Brendan. Bet he wrote that before last night. He's normally one of our biggest fans and it's fair to say that he has a point. Ultimately he's pointing out what most of us fear with an unfit Maddison and Ricardo, along with Barnes and Justin out, we've lost a lot of pace and creativity. It's about being able to shut down Kante and making sure Wilf and Youri are at it and then there's no reason we can't win.

Seems a pretty fair point to me - if Kante snuffs Tielemans out then we’d probably be pretty much stuffed. He reckons he will. Hopefully Tielemans is better than Wrighty thinks he is. But yes, you’re spot on in general about the media coverage.

Koke Posted 12 May 2021 Posted 12 May 2021 Chelsea are a trophy winning machine. Hopefully we have enough to overcome them. But they are clear favourites.
Spudulike Posted 12 May 2021 Posted 12 May 2021 Thank fook they got the covid party out of the way. It would've been unforgivable if it happened this week.

They should be fuching favourites. However, in the FA Cup strange things can happen. What will be will be on the hallowed turf of Wembley. ....before the start of the season I felt that, should Chelsea sign Havertz, then they would go on to win the league!!! They were underperforming with Lampard at the helm and the change of leadership has pushed them to produce performances akin to their roster. We need to not be overawed by the occasion and the second half of the second half of the game last night felt like the players had knitted together again.

ARM1968 Posted 12 May 2021 Posted 12 May 2021 It’s amazing how beating a 2nd/3rd string Utd has elevated hopes in here to the bear delusional. A win on Saturday will be hugely unexpected by most of the footballing world - apart from us. It is seen as less likely than Chelsea winning the CL, and that, in reality, is unlikely if Man City do what they can do. But, it’s a funny old game. 1
