As I've often said UEFA are the problem in their pursuit of £sss unfortunately for them they ended up making the SL clubs richer and therefore more powerful than themselves, they made the bed and we all have to lie in it.

This hasn't gone away completely, I'd imagine UEFA will just keep dancing to their tune.

Part of the reason why I'm not too fussed about being in the Europa League instead of the Champions League.

Gary Neville demands Premier League action in call that will interest Leicester City
Six English clubs confirmed their involvement in the European Super League plans back in April

BySarah Clapson
15:02, 5 JUN 2021UPDATED15:09, 5 JUN 2021

Gary Neville’s latest comments on the recent European Super League controversy are sure to go down well with those of a Leicester City persuasion.

The former Manchester United and England defender has called on the Premier League to take action against the six English clubs who threatened to break away and help form the ESL.

United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea continue to attract criticism for their part in the failed plot.

Neville’s demand comes as it is being claimed those sides have asked Florentino Perez, who acted as president, to dissolve the company which was created to launch the ESL.

The six English teams all withdrew from the league eventually and have since been reintegrated into UEFA having accepted the sanctions handed out by the governing body. Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus still support the plans, however.

And Neville has called on the Premier League to still take action against the English teams involved - saying not to do so would be demonstrative of the 'stuck in the mud' governance that exists in football.

A tweet from one fan to Neville said: “Hand out punishment to the breakaway clubs? Or is that forgotten about now.”

He replied: “No the @premierleague need to get this sorted ASAP! Dragging it out and is demonstrative of the “stuck in the mud” governance that exists in football.”

Meanwhile, it is being reported that in the next few days clubs from the Premier League - having notified Inter Milan, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid, the other three clubs who left the competition - will formally ask Perez to dissolve the ESL company.

The report by ESPN claims that once the Real president has received that request, he would have between two and four weeks to call a board meeting of all members to disband the ESL.

The report goes on to claim that if Perez were to refuse to do so, the six Premier League clubs would consider taking legal action to force the issue.

Discussing, negotiating and agreeing your own punishment. Incredulous. :appl:

"Sportsmail understands that a fine is likely but that there have been occasionally heated discussions over the final figure, which will be millions, and where the money should go."

"Sources have disclosed that the six — Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham — wanted a penalty similar to that handed down by UEFA last month."

****ing ridiculous. You can't choose your own penalty.

...so Mr West, you have been found guilty  on several counts of kidnapping and murder!!!

How long do you wish to serve in the local penitentiary, and you also have the option of only being detained when there are no "r" in the month.

Mr West: ....welllll my pension kicks in next year, so I can do me porridge until then.

Judge: .... this sentence is agreed, bailiff, please clear the court....

Yeah, we’re going to fuch football and screw everyone else in football over. Ahh, no we’re not, sorry, but hold on, let’s choose our own punishment because, you know, otherwise it’s not fair.

Relegation, significant points deductions, european bans, transfer bans, squad size reductions.  They were surely all on the table and I believe that most football fans would have accepted a couple of those options.

Instead, these six teams, with revenues that dwarf the rest of football, get to decide what their punishment is.  And guess what? It's the thing that causes them the least hassle, a small dent in their finances but allows them to continue business as usual in an attempt to close off the top six positions in the premier league.

Disgusting.  The FA and the Premier League (and UEFA) should bow their heads in shame that this has been allowed to be swept under the carpet on their watch.

Honestly best solution for everyone is give them all a 3 point deduction.

we would finish top 4; chelsea would still be in ucl as winners

would piss uefa off

Would also mean Spurs miss out on Europe and Leeds get into the European Conference.

I actually think they'll go all out to try and win the whole thing. They're probably going to be the strongest side in it, and it'll get a monkey off their back for being trophy less.

They'd have surely rolled over on the last day had it not been the case.

The problem is we don't know what punishment they can mete out within the rules of the PL organisation same as clubs are not allowed to punish players with more than a 2 week fine. So it may be they are only allowed financial punishments. Mind you they still shouldn't be involved in determining how much.

Does anyone know what they are allowed to do as punishment.

Did anyone honestly expect the Premier League / FA to dish out an actual, fitting punishment? It was patently obvious all along what was going to happen.

They couldn't even muster a strongly-worded statement when the Super League thing was kicking off for fear of upsetting their precious cash cows.

Spineless, pathetic yes men who will jump as soon as the "M" in "Money" is uttered.

I've said it all along: This won't change a fvcking thing.

3.5 million quid fine for attempting to destroy english football, but with a warning of next time there will be a 30 point deduction......I think if they attempt it again, they won't really be bothered about a 30 point deduction because it won't apply to them, cos they'll be gone.
