Dennis Praet

Recommended Posts

If we can recoup most of the money back then we would of done well, cannot see anybody paying £20 million for a bit part player.

And to be honest he’s nothing special, I’m struggling to think other than the odd good appearance, what he’s done of note.

If you could play Praet in one of our two main formations in his best position, he’d be third choice in whatever one might think his position or best position might be for us. On that basis I’d sell him.

If he wants to go to play more then fair enough, I don't think we can offer him that, as has been said he's down the pecking order in whatever position we might consider playing him. But if he's prepared to be a squad player then obviously keep, he's nothing special but he's he's decent player and we need a decent sized squad next season.

Wouldn't sell for a loss, personally. Think he's a valuable member of the squad.

...we do not play him in a way for him to shine!!!

Played as a #8 alongside Youri then ok, play in a diamond then ok, but we do not tend to play these formation regularly and he does not get the game time for him to showcase his talent and worth to the team.

He really needs to go, in order to progress his career and at his age, he needs to be in a team playing on a weekly basis.

If we are trying to build a squad that is capable of challenging top 4 in the league and competing in the Champions League then Praet is exactly the type of understudy we need.

Losing him would be a backwards step.

The wishes of the player are part of the equation, because they can make things difficult if they're ignored.  Especially an established international like Praet.

Unfortunately I have to totally agree with this, it’s so difficult keeping a squad of good players happy.

We need players of his quality in the squad and it’s surprised me how little we’ve used him.

He's had really bad luck with injuries. Not so much the length of time he's been out, but the timing. His recent injury kept him from featuring when both Maddison and Perez were out. He would have had a pretty long run of games, I think.

Love Praet would be disappointed if he left. Very good player. Unfortunate to not play more frequently

Absolutely. Should get more game time at the expense of Perez, or even Maddison, whose forms been pretty woeful recently. Sadly can't see either happening.

Free Dennis from the bench! Absolute joke not to play him yesterday.

100 per cent  agree with this no worse than Maddison since he has come back into the team our play has become slow and ponderous another thing free kick specialist my backside.

He is off, there's no way you don't play him at the minute if he's still a huge part of the future here. Extraordinary.

Been saying it for months.  Rodgers doesn't rate him, never will (he doesn't change his mind about players), and it makes no sense for Praet to waste his prime as a cup player for a non-CL side.  He'll force the issue this summer if he has to.

No way he stays .....if we didn’t find a space for him with a weakish squad then there’s no point in him hanging around ...

Yeah it's bizarre. One of the main positives of the 3-4-2-1 we played at the start of the season was Praet and Castagne teaming up down that right flank. Surely that's an option we need to consider?

Sadly I think you are right. It must been awful sitting on that bench watching that and not even being given 5 minutes. Absolute joke! I suspect maybe he has said he wants out already and that's why Brendan has thrown his toys out of the pram and isn't playing him. Ridiculous!

He works so well with Timmy down the right and his connection with Youri can't be ignored. Brendan give your head a wobble.

A one off game at Man City where that went well, we kept trying it after and it didn't work hence he was getting subbed after an hour every game until that idea ended.

I thought he was our best player vs West Brom with Castagne that opening game and there were a few others. I'm not saying it's guaranteed liquid gold but we have to find some sort of partnerships with the wingbacks as he evidently won't put together a makeshift 4-2-3-1 so at least try Praet and fcuk Vardy and Maddison off

It's clear that he's leaving at the end of the season, like Ünder. That's why neither are getting any minutes.

Brendan is putting his pride before a fall. We needed something yesterday and both would have been good options to try something. Ridiculous management.

First two games we were playing with a back four though, it was the 4-1-4-1 with Tielemans and Praet as attacking midfielders so he wasn't out wide. Praet being deployed on the right was the worst sight I've seen since Matt Oakley used to take that position.

I would rather lose Rodgers this summer if that would help us to keep Praet.  Our club can't afford to piss off high quality players that we've managed to buy for a bargain fee.
