Ah heck. I knew it had to happen eventually.

what a career for us. I remember the skepticismof signing the captain of a ‘rival’ and from the championship... he’s been amazing

This man Truly is a Leicester Legend.

Errm, our best ever captain; a Forest man who rumours say has a Man U tattoo on him: who'd have thought it?

As Vardy said about him errrrm, he's been the most underrated defender around, even by some of the weirdos in our own fanbase. When he hit his stride in the Prem he was absolutely amazing, particularly excelling in blocking shots around the box, his pace over the first 6 yards was explosive, his strength staggering and when caught upfield after one of our own corners often took it upon himself to become a rotund winger; control, play or hold the ball up excellently and get us back attacking. In his pomp Wes was rock solid. Important goals too, against Seville, Man U away and Southampton at home. His performances for Jamaica were also very impressive. Errrrm and even back in 2012, his first full season with us was appointed Captain, scored first game that season against Peterborough in a 2-0 win.

But age caught up. It was the injury in a Huddersfield game at the King Power, over extended trying to win a ball and just crumpled, a sad gray day really, for that sight added to the fact we were playing out a crap draw with Puel ball.

Anyway errrm. It's a big role to fill at the Club, Westley was a strong captain, it's a big task to replace his character.

So errm, thanks and all the best. Let's hope he and the rest of our dodery retirees get a properly loud ovation on Sunday. :scarf::appl:

I'm so glad his final act wasn't to score Chelea's equaliser.

Well done Wes, club legend!

I still can't work out whether that would have been given as an own goal or not. If there's a camera shot from behind the goal I haven't seen it but my feeling is that that ball came off Wes then hit Chilwell when he was on the ground and rebounded in, so if it had stood it would have been Chilwell's goal. Thank god for VAR either way.

Yeah I'm convinced it went in off Chilwell.

He'll go down in history as our legendary club captain, there when we won our first league title and there when we won our first FA Cup. What a great way to end his career, lifting the trophy on the Wembley turf.

Definitely went in off Chilwell.

But who cares? About as relevant as who conceded a throw-in in the 11th minute.

I always thought this was underrated, he wasn't slow at all. Not agile, perhaps.

I thought people were overly harsh about his distribution as well.

He's been well past if for about 3 years now, but a great servant to the club in the championship and the Prem. I don't think he'll ever come to terms with the fact he jumped from what looked like was going to be a decent career at championship level to winning a Premier league, FA Cup and playing in a champions league quarter final

Good luck in the future Wes and thanks for the last minute blocks and big goals <3 The Sevilla Schlong will forever stick in my mind

Been an absolute giant for us over the last decade on and off the pitch. One of the most key and influential figures in transforming the ethos and outlook of the playing squad. A superb CB and a phenomenal leader. £1mil for 350-odd games, a Championship title, a Premier League title, an FA Cup and an immeasurable influence on the dressing, he's been a colossus for us.

It's a strange one after so many big moments, but my abiding memory of Wes is the Cardiff away game after the helicopter crash. Puel was right to start him, and I think his qualities as a player, leader and person shone possibly at their brightest that day. Happy retirement big Wes!

Great Servant to the club and what we stand for.

Forever be treasured by the fans

How many players can say they have a bottle designed after then?

Looking forward to drinking this on the 35th anniversary of our Title winning season

Well Done Wes and happy retirement 💪

What a player. Will go down as one of the greatest ever to wear the shirt!

I wonder who will take the number 5 shirt now. Tough act to follow.

Maybe little Wes

Played every minute of our title winning season.

Didn't he also play the summer before the season started for Jamaica? Incredible if I've remembered that right.

I’m sure I remember him being on duty when we announced Claudio, there was an interview with one of them saying they couldn’t wait to meet the other.
