He’s too expensive, too risky with his injuries, doesn’t play right wing, and his agent is a cancer.

And yet Tanner reported yesterday that we are not done in the transfer market.  (OK, he’s not well connected, but he must have got that somewheree inside the club.)  With all we’ve spent, we must be looking at loans?

Maybe, just maybe …?

Nah.

Lots of words to describe a person thats not one of them

Oh yes. Certainly worth a gamble, IF we could get him on a favourable loan deal., though I can't see it happening.

Imo we shouldn't even go down this road with Coutinho, injury prone ,and nearly 30 ,I say bring youth players through as no expense

Scenario……

Arsenal bite the bullet and offer the asking price for Maddison

And we successfully make moves for both Coutinho on loan and Madueke on a permanent deal……

Not saying that it WILL happen, but how satisfied would folks be if this unfolded?

It is definitely short-term thinking and not really the 'Leicester Way', but it could make sense in a few ways.

  • Could he be the difference that gets us into the Champions League?
  • Could players in the team, i.e. Barnes and, to a lesser extent, Sowah, learn from his presence?
  • Could this encourage Tielemans to believe we are serious about getting into the CL and for him to sign a new contract?

Thought the exact same thing myself.

Sell Praet and Choudhury this window as well and we could have Madueke, Coutinho (on loan) and a net zero spend.

I love a 100% fit Maddison but I'd take that all day long.

Extremely!!

Thats if the Maddison figure is the £70 mill thats been banded about

I can’t see any world in which we say no to a loan if they’re happy to cover 40% of his wages and we actually want him. The last bit of that sentence is key because we don’t know if there is any truth in any of this story of course. The lad hasn’t gone to Barcelona and just become shit. He’s had a tough time and isn’t playing at his best, but the quality is still there and id back BR to get it out of him more than any other manager.

Any thing that gets Perez out of the team is worth a go imo.

Too risky as a straight replacement as he's not played since doing his knee in last December and looking through Barca's pre season friendlies he didn't get any game time at all.

If Barca would let him come on a trial so LCFC could properly assess his fitness he might be worth looking at but doubt they would allow it.

Could this loan deal now be our thinking having spent £15 mill on vestergard so we don’t have funds for Signing a winger? Although we did want a centre half already didnt we so im purely speculating

But, is Maddison proving to be different? I don’t think he’s been fit for nearly two seasons….. granted he’s played, but I don’t think he’s been fit. His hip seems to be causing him constant issues.

Think he’s being offered to anyone who’s had a link to him. Just seen articles linking him with us, West Ham, Liverpool, Lazio, Arsenal. They want him off the books.

Wherever he goes it will be a transfer deadline move as every club will hold out to get a lower price / wage commitment

I think Riaola is just getting a bit desperate to get him moved on, maybe he’s on a good finders fee if he finds him another club?

Well, you would be if your parent club had basically told you, you were not in their plans. His wages will be the issue. But come deadline day he will have a club.

I think the writing was on the wall when Bayern said no thanks. If Barcelona offer him for 20 million and he accepts about 100 grand a week he might get lucky.

Bayern didn't sign him because the fees associated with a possible deal at the time were stupid

"The Bavarian club does not have the necessary resources to exercise the option of buying Coutinho from Barcelona, which is set at 120 million euros, as the Brazilian will leave the Bavarian club after the end of Bayern's European adventure."

The CEO of the German club said: "Coutinho's contract, as I said before, is nearing its end, and we do not want to make more investments of this size."
