I'm convinced that Arsenal have carried on the Maddison interest in the hope he will become unsettled and potentially hand in a transfer request. That isn't going to happen and as long as Madders is happy to be at Leicester, there is not a chance we sell to Arsenal unless they put in a ridiculous bid, which they won't. Drinkwater, Mahrez, Maguire and Chilwell all showed a desire to leave. Havent seen anything from madders that suggests he wants to leave. If one of the top 4 bid for him then he may change his mind, but I highly doubt he's any interest in joining that circus at Arsenal..

Nor have I. Arsenal fans on twitter etc are wetting themselves over suggestions that Maddison is 'open' to a move, but it does feel very different to the Kante/Mahrez/Magurie/Chilwell situations, when it was clear that the player really wanted to leave. As far as I'm aware, there haven't been any reliable reports that Maddison will hand in a transfer request. I don't expect him to, either - if he truly believes in his own ability, why would he waste his time with Arsenal? It would be such an odd career move.

Their little brains can't distinguish between being open to a move and wanting or forcing a move. It's plausible that if he was out of favour or Leicester were looking to cash in on him, then he would be open to a move to Arsenal, if one of the current top 4 clubs were not interested.  Doesn't mean he wants to leave though.

Precisely this, if he found himself out of Rodgers plans any time in the future it really wouldn’t help his cause coming out and say “Arsenal? No thanks, small club, big step down”.

If he was “open” for a move, it’s because he’d be happy to move on if the circumstances were right, not firing a transfer request in.

You would think after the last few years of watching David Luiz piss about in defence they would make that their priority to get someone in

Arsenal are very good at looking busy in the transfer market without actually buying anyone

This has been their MO since the Emirates was first announced tbh.

How many times did we hear Wenger carry the can, giving out that stuff about how the war chest was there and pretending he just didn't want or need to spend it?

They've been skint for over a decade and in denial.

It still amazes me how they seem to focus on attacking players year after year while their defence gets neglected yet again. Will they ever learn?

They’ve bought two defenders and a box to box midfielder so far …..

It's good to see more positive posts about a great player.

Hes looked really good in pre season. Fit and committed. I've slammed him more than most for his antics in the past but I hope he's turned a corner.

EicesterI would rather Maddison in the team than Odegaard fro. The little I have seen of Odegaard.  Odegaard looks good but I have seen what Maddison is capable of for Leicester

Arsenal spending £30-40m on Abraham, as well as supposedly still after Ramsdale for ~£30m… surely no way they will have the money to cough up for Madders

There was someone on here who said he would be “done” can’t remember who though

Were they getting mixed up with the Gylfi story? The Maddison Sun rumours stopped pretty much immediately after the Gylfi story broke.
