Will. A.Villa,Everton,W.Ham be our close competitors this 21/22 season

Can these 3 Drive forward again this coming season...and maybe steal some of our fire & progress.?

Are there other Teams you might fancy, like Wolves , Leeds or a resurgent Southampton...?

Plus Spurs & Arsenal will make their presence felt, depends I suppose if they realise & find that form , their fans are desperately looking for..!

Even with new investments, injury-returnees has our squad the bite, the quality to  compete again around  the Top 4 & deliver end-runs in any of the Cups.?

Think Villa are buying well and if Grealish stays then they will have a good season, but expect us to finish the season closer to Man U than Spurs, Arsenal, Villa etc.

West Ham won't have a season like they just have had.

I do hope to see more teams unbalance the top 6 though. As long as we're having a good season I don't mind who is up there with us.

Villa will be good this season, only takes one injury to Grealish to turn the tide though. I think Everton will be mid-table again, haven't exactly bought anyone decent, got a decent manager in Rafa but lost James Rod who was class for them. WHU I think won't do as well as they did last season, but will still be 8th/9th or so.

Pains me to say it but I think Leeds will be right up there. They'd really found their rhythm in the last third of last season. They haven't really recruited, mind.

I was just thinking about this last night, scarily we’ve seemed to do more in the market than a lot of the teams that could cause us trouble, with that comes a little bit more expectation perhaps. We never really know until a few weeks in but you can just see the impact Covids had on transfer business.

Everton have rather sensibility gone down the route of investing in a top manager (again) who in theory can get the best out of their squad without too much work doing to it so they’ll be ones to watch - as will Leeds as Bielsa did the same last year with a smaller, tighter squad.

I’m not overly concerned by either Arsenal or Tottenham - both seem to be in a state of “transition” that looks to be potentially troublesome for both sides.

Villa if they keep Grealish will be a challenge as they do have a decent starting 11 - and we don’t know what to expect from Wolves but they’ll probably be mid table as they’ve had to just sell and replace like for like rather than necessarily improve on what they’ve got. West Ham? I’m not sure really I feel they remarkably overachieved last season with what they have, to do the same again would be even more impressive than last year.

We’re probably the 5th best team overall heading into this season - and Liverpool are ones who could still stumble as well, the signs are there with Klopps history at Dortmund, last year they started rocking a bit - and there seems to be some behind the scenes issues creeping in between their top players, they could topple as well.

Gonna be exciting lads, let’s hope we get off to a good start and see where it takes us 👍

I think:

Villa - will be good, and probably top half, but think we'll be 10-15 points ahead

Everton - Just can't take them seriously any more

West Ham - no, they overachieved last season and should return to the mean

Wolves - Can see them being half good now they have a new coach in. One to keep an eye on. We should still finish comfortably above them, though.

Leeds - controversial, but I see them being not too far off the relegation places

Southampton - Think they may actually go down this year (hope not)

West Ham only came good when they got Lingard on loan, if they can't sign him and with Injury prone Antonio being a year older I can't see them pushing on. I've seen nothing that makes me think Everton are a threat. Villa and Leeds possibly.

I think we say this about Everton and West Ham almost every year, don't we? They both have potential but neither recruit particularly well and both suffer with fans with very high expectations.

I think we saw purple patches last season from both of the above, Southampton, Villa, Leeds and we have seen it from Wolves before too. All of them have spent time in the top 5/6/7 over the past couple of seasons, but do any of them have the ability to go the whole season? That's the real question.

There are surprises every season too - I don't think anyone saw West Ham doing so well.

I don't think Arsenal will be any worse than they were last season either, and expect some improvement from Spurs too.

Ha! Our close competitors will be Man City and maybe Chelsea! If they both step up a bit.

Honestly the league is bonkers, anyone can be up there. If you truly believe that we are nailed on to finish 10-15 points ahead of villa or anyone else like that then you’ve become a bit disillusioned.

we have a great squad, we’ve earnt our finishes but we will always have to work for it and there will always be some bumps in the road.

part of me dislikes that some of our fan base appear to take our situation for granted. No idea where this entitlement has come from. But plain and simply for me we are 100% battling these teams even if we are favourites.

I have noticed this as well, two seasons in 5th and we become entitled fans like some of the clubs we despise. I think the league is very open and competitive bar the Top 3 or so clubs. Anyone can grab a good finishing position if they work hard and things go their way. However, nothing is a given. Let's be reminded of 2015/16 when Spurs and Arsenal both won the league!

Even the Top 3 clubs can be challenged but that will take a hell of a lot of an effort and some luck on the way.

I think we will have another good season, fighting on 4 fronts with a good squad depth, but let's be patient and see how things go before planning title celebrations!

I read about Bielsa's double and triple summer training sessions and think, that small squad is going to wear out.

But I thought they would run out of gas in the last part of the season, and they did the opposite.

If Villa keep hold of Grealish then they could seriously mount a decent challenge on top 6.

As for Everton, WHU and Leeds, i think they will be top half but not good enough.

We have earned our billing as best of the rest and still think that we have the best chance of anyone of breaking the top four. That does however, put more pressure on us as other teams, especially the big guns, will be even keener to try and put us down and raise their own games against us.

It is going to be an interesting season, and i think, even more open and competitive than last.
