I'd be interested if you could provide stats that show that, and I'll see I can find some that back me up. Because I feel we have a great record of seeing out games when he doesn't do what he did today, and not so good when he does. And there have also been occasions where we've been very lucky imo.

Nah you’re wrong whenever Brendan has switched to go defensive to see a game out we have a great record, trust me.

I’ll be honest mate I haven’t got the effort to do that now. I’m half cut and going for some Greek food.
You’ll have to take my word for it lol

Tough game today, Wolves dug in and made it hard for us! It was a bit of a untidy watch, but they’re a sturdy outfit, without being too threatening.

Like @Bert said their best chances came from our mistakes!

I thought they did a good job of shrinking our width in the second half, and it really highlighted how badly we need a winger…. There was no outlet in that second half and we really struggled to get up the pitch. Other than Vardy and Ricardo.

I felt we looked in control until about the last 30 minutes where we started to lose the midfield a bit, personally I felt it was the wrong game to bring Soumare into, he looked a bit like the pace was too much for him at times at this stage, perhaps KDH would have been a better an option?

It was a very good game to start on, Wolves probably deserved a draw in all fairness, they were extremely hard, and gritty…. But we hung in and that’s the main thing.

I felt Thomas was brilliant for most of the game, Youri probably MOTM, but N’didi was pretty good too.

Big Dan looked very Shakey when put under pressure, but I thought Vesty actually looked pretty good, apart Ron when he got barged off the ball by Adama, but other than that for saying he’s trained once, he looked settled.

Vardy looked great, really sharp and still looks like he’s got that edge. Madders started well, but I think suffered after the injury, but what I well say in his defence, is he really needs a target to hit on the wing, Perez moves inside far too often when we’re moving forward, Barnes ordinarily does a good job at that but I felt he faded as the game went on, a proper wight winger is a must, someone to get us up the pitch when we’re under the cosh, because at the moment we don’t have that, and a more potent attack would have probably scored today.

All in all, a good first day, at the office! Against a tough opponent.

P.S ****ing good to be back.

Sort of. Being at the game I was fine with- the travelling was an issue. The trains I get are usually rammed for a good half an hour each way near Leicester and you've no idea how busy it is, mask wearing numbers etc and I just didn't feel totally comfortable.

Second dose in two weeks then Man City a couple after that and I should be much more confident.

....how come!!!

First half was decent, scored a fantastic goal and had a couple of opportunities. Let them back into it second half, and looked a bit leggy at times. Caused our own problems, but other than the Traore opportunities I don’t think they created an awful lot with the possession they had second half. Didn’t think Vestergaard did to badly considering he’s barely met most of the squad, Soumare maybe not used to the intensity of the league, but that will come. Clean sheet, 3 points. Good start with plenty of room to improve. Tricky trip to West Ham next, but it’s just great to be back 🦊💙

Fair enough, but I'd rather do what Liverpool did earlier, when Norwich got a foothold and change a few players and push on rather that this heart in the mouth approach. We've certainly had a couple of escapes, one that stick in my mind was Burnley a couple of seasons ago when they scored late on and it was ruled out for a trip of Evans that was never a foul. We also go lucky in the fa cup final, with a tight offside saving us. Results are the most important thing I guess but it can't be sustainable tactic to keep letting your opponent gain the initiative and have more chance.

Yeah so would I but Rodgers just seems quite conservative with us when we take the lead. Would love to batter a few teams but I just don’t think we will the way Rodgers adjusts things. Not complaining as long as we get the results.

Gah. Can't believe we didn't score in that second half. Leicester weren't as good as I was expecting, and we weren't as poor as I was expecting. Thought a draw might have been a fair result overall.

Ah well, at least I made a bit of cash out of it

Thought Trincao looked very promising for your boys. Hoover looks talent too. Once Jimenez bags one I think you've got a good side there.

Marcal can get in the bin though the dirty bastard.

Sometimes I really do question what others are watching! I’ve read some reviews saying Amarty was better than Soyuncu?! Thats the biggest embarrassment of accessing a performance I’ll ever see.

Soyuncu was absolutely fantastic today and Amarty did his best to throw it away for us time and time again.

If Fofana was in for Amarty today we would be winning that game comfortably.

Vestergard looked a bit shakey which worries me because we are getting nowhere near the top 6 with Amarty as a main stay.

Wolves didn’t press high at all first half so was ok, soon as they pressed us, we **** around at the back being camped in because we can’t manoeuvre the ball well without good ball playing CBs. We’ll get absolutely ran over and pressed to the death by the big 4.

Great win but not a convincing performance by a majority of the players/system and it took a world class goal to knick it.

Saying that - Vardy, Ricardo, Tielemens and Soyuncu were fantastic. We didn’t have to use Daka so have options going forward but as predicted we are missing a top winger and also Fofana will be a huge miss.

Itll be interesting how Vestergard can play in a back 4 with Cags - that will be key to how well we do.

Have a look at this beauty of a review 😂

I think you're being unduly pessimistic. Probably worked harder than anyone else today.

I don't think age affects stamina that much. Think of Mark Cavendish. Age 36. 4 stage wins in the Tour de France this year.

Maybe your right, just seemed more knackered than he would usually be. Even if I'm right, that's what we have Daka and Kelechi for, so Vardy doesn't have to play every minute.

Crazy what people see 🤣. I mean for the first 30 mins Armartey was fine, but after he played in Troare for that sitter he just looked vulnerable at every moment. He’s a walking disaster when on the ball and he fumbles under any pressure.

Soyuncu bailed him out again from trincao in the 2nd half after another hospital ball and he got rinsed in no mans land second half by Troare.

Wolves deserved at least a draw imo so it’s a fantastic 3 points, but let’s not turn a blind eye to the weaknesses.

Vardy on the other hand, maybe it was just me but I thought that was his best performance for a good year at the least since maybe Leeds away last season. Ran himself ragged, came towards the ball and relieved pressure 2nd half often, scored the winner and a world class strikers finish. Other than missing that 1 on 1 2nd half which was disappointing, he was fantastic. 34 going on 35 and he’s running around like a mad man for 90 mins - beautiful to see.

Watched the first half though we looked alright vardy looked very up for it and took his goal very well. Glad I missed the second half by the looks of things in here 😂. Good start to the season though and with the fans back and a bit more competition we could have vardy back to scoring goals again.

FYI some of the trains were indeed packed, particularly the ones going back to Birmingham. I saw a two carriage train packed beyond stupidity and honestly it was a bit concerning because that was dangerous pre COVID yet alone nowadays.

So my tip would be to travel in early and maybe grab some dinner post match in Leicester before heading back home. I think the train networks are under serving the demand on match days based on today.

I go the other way so the main issue is the packing until Oakham with Melton Mowbray in between. The lack of carriages has been an problem for years, we have been one emergency halt from people being thrown about and a major incident occurring.

This was always my concern.

I mean I am both serious and joking. Of course he's gonna be knackered it's first game of the season, but I've also never seen vardy crouched down completely knackered at the end of a game. Would be foolish to assume age is having no effect whatsoever on him...

I've seen him like that loads of times, it's called putting a shift in.

Yes we didn’t have our best game but I don’t think we did too badly my takeaways are:

until he got his knock and went down Maddison was playing some good balls and looked sharp after the knock didn’t look as good it’s a worry but he wasn’t awful as some people are saying

Armarty was very good defensively but gave the ball away too easily when distributing which gave wolves a few chances that they should have taken

Perez played quite well today. He played a couple of killer balls over the top to vardy and a few good crosses to

vesterguaard looked very comfortable with the ball at his feet and played some really good passes to youri that got attacks started

Barnes didn’t have his best game but hopefully that will come back with a bit more game time

Thomas looked very good on the ball as usual but I thought trincao got past him a few to many times

ricardo looks like he is getting back to his old self

We need to work more at being able to play our way out of a press as we really seem to struggle with that

overall good result against a good team!

Traore is so bad.
Tielemans is different gravy. Still can’t believe he plays for us.

Also can’t believe he wasn’t one of the clubs options for MOTM.

Cos it’d be boring to give it to him every week.

Who got it out of interest? Ndidi/Vardy/Pereira/Thomas all excellent!

I dunno but it was youri for me.

Thought the injury to Madders stemmed our flow today. Thought we looked great with him linking with Vards. He took a heavy knock and was understandably a lot less effective from that point. We lost control of midfield from that point so I can totally see why BR brought on Soumare rather than Nacho.

Youri was actually incredible today, beating players easily, so lucky to have him.

Kelechi was brilliant when he came on, held the ball up so well, he’s literally a different player when he’s confident.
