How come you didn’t go? That worried about covid?

Sort of. Being at the game I was fine with- the travelling was an issue. The trains I get are usually rammed for a good half an hour each way near Leicester and you've no idea how busy it is, mask wearing numbers etc and I just didn't feel totally comfortable.

Second dose in two weeks then Man City a couple after that and I should be much more confident.

No idea what to make of that. First half we looked OK but second half performance was seriously uncomfortable. The subs and system change made sense but we looked a nervous mess. Soumare looked nervy, Vestergaard not much better and poor Danny Amartey had few heart in mouth moments. Strangely, I thought pretty much everyone else played well. Maddison couldn't impact the game much but i thought Soyuncu, the full backs, Youri and Wilf were immense. Vardy was great when needed and Perez and Barnes did their bit. I thibk wolves will be decent this season and Trincao looks very tidy.

Scrappy first game of the season. They usually are dull affairs. Especially against wolves. To win it is a great start. We’ll get stronger after 3/4 games.

Good for Vardy to get an early goal and he was a total pest today . Looked shattered by the end of the game not sure if that a sign  of things to come or just first full  game back .

To be fair to him he was shattered because he put in a real shift as did Tielemans. He chased down a LOT today so did everything asked from him; linked play, scored a goal, led the press, relieved the pressure.

If we had one more sub left Daka would have come on for sure, but him and Nacho looked great just like last season. I think both did very well today.

Are you being serious? First match of the season. No one can be match fit yet.

I mean I am both serious and joking. Of course he's gonna be knackered it's first game of the season, but I've also never seen vardy crouched down completely knackered at the end of a game. Would be foolish to assume age is having no effect whatsoever on him...

Ah fair enough didn’t think about the travel side of things. I had covid about a month ago and am glad I got it before the season kicked off.

I'm hoping Madders' mind isnt fecked up by all the Arsenal talk and he needs any slight injury to get off the pitch?

I'm sure it's not and he will get back into the groove.

He looked like he has in many games where he struggles to get into it, fantastic player on his day, today wasn't his day. More concerning is the hip issue that doesn't seem to have gone away, may impact any future fee.

FYI some of the trains were indeed packed, particularly the ones going back to Birmingham. I saw a two carriage train packed beyond stupidity and honestly it was a bit concerning because that was dangerous pre COVID yet alone nowadays.

So my tip would be to travel in early and maybe grab some dinner post match in Leicester before heading back home. I think the train networks are under serving the demand on match days based on today.

This season is going to be a tough challenge, every match is going to be a test, I very much doubt that we are going to outplay any team for 90 min. We have shown in the last two matches that we can battle out victories as we did in the cup final. Teams are often called shit on here , well they are not , they are PL teams. If we fight for every point we can equal last season but it ain't going to be easy.

I think we have to take that game for what it was:
The opening game of the season where pretty much anything can happen!

We weren’t playing what will probably be our first team. We have the luxury of getting Castagne, Justin, Evans etc all back in the side.
And we won… the most important thing is the three points, not the performance at this stage.

This game won’t define how we are going to play or perform this season.

Wolves are always tough to beat,  so I will take the win.

We played some really good stuff in the first half, the second half wasn’t so great.

We need to retain possession when we’re under pressure, playing the high percentage ball forward just gave them the ball back to come at us again. A team with better finishers would have taken one of those chances.

Just great to be back into the routine of going to the stadium.

Not sure I can say anything that's not been covered already. First half we were decent and Wolves were last seasons bore fest but grew into it and were well on top second half. Thankfully Traore can't finish his dinner else we'd have been on the wrong end of a result. Perez and Maddison were just passengers again, hard to not get drawn into the usual skape ghosting of them but was quite pleased they were hooked.

Great to have away fans at the ground too, missed the match day spice. Even better to have a lovely view of Ricardo sending those two players to the shops for the goal. Great to have him back on form. Him, Thomas, Cags and Youri were excellent today.

Got away with that wolves unlucky not to get a point minimum. Oh well only first game of season was a class goal from vardy made some good runs in behind today. Even his goal which was ruled offside was a tidy finish. Thomas my MOTM. Soumare looked decent when he came on too.

Really need to stop that shit in the second half, dropping deeper before eventually adding an extra defender. Got away with one today, but it will cost us points like it has in the past. We're more than capable of seeing that game out without hand all the momentum to Wolves like we did. Worry thing for me is we do it do often its clearly a favoured tactic.

Didn’t watch today so can’t comment on today specifically but actually Rodgers has an excellent record of managing the game out to get the 3 points when we’re ahead.

Ive often thought he goes way too defensive too early but his record speaks for itself

I'd be interested if you could provide stats that show that, and I'll see I can find some that back me up. Because I feel we have a great record of seeing out games when he doesn't do what he did today, and not so good when he does. And there have also been occasions where we've been very lucky imo.

Very pleasing, commanding first half sparked by some brilliant Tielemans passing and crowned with a wonderful goal - but as so often before, we sat on our lead and allowed the opposition to enter our half almost unhindered in the second half, which, added to by some sloppy play by Amartey, Soumare etc, made for uncomfortable viewing.

With a bit more composure Jamie and Harvey could have wrapped up the win, but we needed some last-ditch blocks to get us over the line - and some great hold up play by Iheanacho, who was very good when he came on and ensured a nerveless period of added time.

Tielemans again the star man. Such a classy, clever footballer. I could watch him all day.

You can't get any more than 3 points from a game and although the purists won't have like it we did just that. Brilliant goal from the old man and with Wolves huffing and puffing particularly in the second half we could not be breached. Joint top with the 'Bees' on points, never thought I'd say that.

Had a mad afternoon here and missed every single second of everything.  In a nutshell, how was it? Did we go to 5/3 at back when Vesty came in? Deserved win?

I think you're being unduly pessimistic. Probably worked harder than anyone else today.

I don't think age affects stamina that much. Think of Mark Cavendish. Age 36. 4 stage wins in the Tour de France this year.

We weren’t that good today and it was largely down to us making silly mistakes, that’s where Wolves best chances came from.

I thought Wolves were very poor, they should have really got something out of this game especially as we gifted them a few chances but still rarely troubled Kasper.
