For the goal, Ricardo and Vardy showed the skills but Perez's work made the chance: he worked for the throw in and dragged away defenders from Ricardo. Neither the most glamorous nor the most skillful work but it's what got us the goal. Wolves, in the first half, defended resolutely and marked Barnes out of the match. They understandably left more room on the right, and Perez and Ricardo opened up a resolute five at the back, a five at the back that we'll see in 70% of our matches. He's the Spanish Shinji Okazaki, Perez.

A win is a win, but I'd prefer we didn't play like we did in the second half again any time soon.

What a huge let off that was, a very dodgy second half display.

 

Luckily our defence bailed each other out, they weren’t great but Soyuncu, Amartey & Thomas all made crucial blocks in that second half.

 

Vardy was excellent, tremendous shift from him. Ricardo is looking near his best again.

 

Not pretty, but three points and a clean sheet is all that matters.

Yeah first half though we played quite well without ever really getting in to top gear.  

 

Second half was dreadful.  But like the OP says, let's put it down to tiredness, rustyness or whatever else because that really wasn't good.  Any half decent team that second half would have buried us.

 

But 3 points, really good play in parts, it's a good start

Given the fact we were missing two of our starting back four, to keep a clean sheet is important, however you get it. Hopefully a week of Vestergaard settling in will do him good and he'll be ready for the next game.

 

Quality goal to win it, still plenty to work on but you win the game and move on.

That second half was a nightmare, really.  Every time we load 5 defenders on and park the bus we look a total disaster.  No reason you should have to do that against what should be a weaker side than you.

Last 25 minutes were very uncomfortable. Not a fan of Brendan going 3 at the back, but we've won 1-0 and he'll do it again.

That last half hour was a worry, I do hope Brendan starts making other teams worry about us rather than being terrified of conceding an equaliser.

 

Just a small gripe as a win in this league is always a great win
