C Palace v Leicester(pre- match thread) 2.00 Oct 3rd

We don't play well when we mess about with the midfield of Tielemans and Ndidi. Playing a flat 3 hasn't worked for us at all. Neither has playing Ndidi as a pivot and Tielemans and another in front of him.

We should play what has worked for us before - 4231 or 5221/5212. If Soumare or KDH can't play the Ndidi role (I don't expect them to be as good obviously) then it's an absolute joke that Mendy isn't in the squad. He filled it impressively for large parts of last season.

No point even mentioning Hamza in the conversation.

The second bit of that makes me angry.

I agree with the third bit.

Why does it make you angry, out of interest?

It’s the deflection.

He’s setting out his achievements to mitigate against the current dire showing.

And we haven’t ‘just fallen below’ the standards, we’ve fallen off a cliff regarding performances.

I would prefer something along the lines of ‘We’ve been poor for about eight or nine months and I hold Perez entirely responsible. I promise I’ll have him as half time milk monitor for the rest of the season’

That would make me happy.

I'm standing by my 9-0 prediction.

Zaha hattrick.

Benteke hattrick after coming off the bench after an hour.

Vardy own goal in exactly the same fashion as last weekend.

Maddison own goal after playing it back to Ward (Kasper gets sent off early on).

Guaita scores from a goal kick.

Anything is possible 🤯

Can't see a win here, they'll bag a few with our defense so we need to out gun them.

Out gun them😂

Yes and we might actually start a game with a plan😂

we might turn their defence 😂

The style of play is so  similar to Puel it is scary. Rodgers has done wonders and is obviously a great manager - and yes we have had injuries and players out of form - but I really am struggling to see how we get out of this passive way of playing.

Towards the end of Puel’s reign I started to think it wasn’t the manager and thought the players were just not good enough. Rodgers proved they are good enough... I’m hoping he’ll do the same again. 🙏🏻

Evans likely to miss out so we have to pick 2 out of Soyuncu, Amartey, Benkovic and Vestegaard. I would honestly pick Amartey over Vestegaard (never thought I would say that), but I also don't know how bad Benkovic has to be for him not to be involved this season with the form of the CBs

Bertrand has not done enough this season and Thomas is still inexperienced and gets no help from Barnes makes me believe Pereira and Castagne should be our full back options

Ndidi out, Mendy clearly not in Rodgers plans means Choudhury is our only DM, I think he has to start, but BR will play someone out of position. EDIT - Just seen Mendy played 60 minutes for the Under 23s so fingers crossed he can start

We need to start Albrighton, not always the greatest player, but is very stable and doesn't let the team down. His experienced and measured approach is what we need at the moment.

Schmeichel

Pereira

Soyuncu

Amartey

Castagne

Choudhury (DM) - EDIT Mendy

Tielemans

Albrighton

Maddison

Barnes/Lookman

Vardy

Scarily, I am thinking about our options and we don't appear to have any and on current form whatever side we put out I expect us to struggle

It's a bit of a mess at the moment, whatever the reasons.

There was bad blood after Partygate, and I'm not sure we have the focus/cohesion to overachieve again.

Is anyone actually looking forward to Sunday afternoon?

Yup, I always look forward to seeing my team play. Like i said in an earlier post, form will change and it could quite easily be Sunday.

Our season needs to pick up for sure but I am confident the lads have it in them to turn it around.

I've not heard that expression since I left the Navy

The way we are playing, I am surprised JV doesnt say something of the like in the post match press conference.

Reporter"Tough game tonight Jamie".....

JV "Yeah, we got our back doors smashed in royally."

Got a horrible feeling this will be as bad as 28th April 2018.

That was truly awful that day and always one of the worst away journeys too. Can you see any of the current team coming over to apologise to the fans like they did that day though?
