Sunderland is so far clear of literally every other draw so there's no way it'll happen.

Looking at our fixture list around that game we're bound to get Liverpool away.

Oh right, I guess the larger away allocations we've given for the league cup before are purely because of the lower demand in the home end.

Possibly. I think the club may rather sell all tickets than leave empty seats. They might do the same if it is someone like Sunderland but I think for a QF we would sell out whoever we play.

Rules changed the Season we played Villa at Villa Park.

Before it was 15%. Now 10% but clubs have given the 15% to other clubs.

I guess the approach might well depend on how the final Europa group game has gone and where it has left us.

If we’re top, we skip a round so more time to get a league cup challenge out the way with no games until March.

Second and we will play a two legged knockout round just before the final and after a potential two legged semi final in the league cup….

One win from the semi-final.

Chelsea and Liverpool will not take it seriously unless they get to the final.

Think this is wide open and a great chance to get back to Wembley and have a crack at more silverware

I wouldn't mind if we got West Ham. We owe them one and I think the players would have a point to prove.

I’d like for us to try matching their Brexit ball. Give them the ball and hit them on the counter. That’s their MO, because they know their defence won’t catch up with most pacey attackers in the league. Their midfield serves one purpose too. Incredibly one dimensional but extremely well coached side.

You think Liverpool won't play a stronger side now they're in the quarter finals?

I doubt they will play the likes of VVD, Salah and Mane. They don't have the same depth that Man C and Chelsea do. The likes of Minamimo and Origi don't really strike fear into teams

West ham will definitely top their EL group and avoid two additional games. the chance to win a trophy means that moyes will now go strong.

our games in dec

1st  soton A

5th villa A

9th napoli A

12th newcastle H

16th Spurs H

19th Everton A

22nd QTR FINAL

26th  man city A

28th Lpool H

that's nine games in 28 days !!!!!

we just need sunderland at home. looking at the above fixtures, the last thing we need is a trip to the northeast but that's way more preferable than a trip to london!

Frankly, looking at the teams left, I would rather face a Big 6 team at home, since they will probably play their reserves. Even Klopp will play a strong side in the first semi-final.

Not sure he will - the semis are in jan - AFCON

I d take anyone except West Ham.

Too physical for us as has proved in recent meetings.

Plus unlike the big 6 clubs they have something to aim at.

Big 6?..

I can only think of 4.(and one of those is big in name only).

Did I say I wanted an away trip? No I just said I'd like us to beat West Ham.  They're a well drilled team but I certainly don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility for us to sneak a win against them in a QF Cup tie. Chelsea/Liverpool is who we want to avoid. In an ideal world it will be Sunderland at home - yes. But as far as West Ham/Brentford/Arsenal are concerned - I view them all as tough but winnable games for us. Providing we're at our best.

I responded to your post and then went on to make another point.

I would be confident of beating  liverpool at home if we played with a half decent starting eleven. . They simply won’t play a strong side. But obvs sland at home is perfect as we can play the same team as last night.

Want to avoid Brentford like the plague, they won’t have to rest any players while we no doubt will, we’d be on a hiding to nothing with that game.

Outside of Sunderland who we should be able to beat even with a few rested I’d say Spurs or Liverpool ironically might be our best shout, especially at home. They’ve got track records under Nuno and Klopp of testing a decent amount of their Under 23’s in these games and if we went for a slightly stronger team than Brighton we’d have a shot at either.

West Ham would come at us stronger but with Europe on their mind as well it would be similar to the Brighton game in level.

If I had a choice bring on Spurs 🦊

If we are looking to get to the final then we should look at who we can beat in a one off match and who would be better played over 2 legs.

We can beat anyone in a single match so we should want to play someone like Liverpool, Arsenal or Tottenham at home. Then in the semi final we would ideally get someone like Sunderland, maybe Brentford (but they are a very good side). However, we got the easy draw 2 years ago and failed. So whatever. We can beat anyone, we can lose to anyone. Less pressure if it is a big club and it might also bring a full house (although for a QF I expect a full house anyway if at home).

Spurs or Arsenal at home for me, with Sunderland vs Brentford and we get the winner of that over two legs in the semi, should see us with another trip to Wembley
