It's a bonkers table and so tight to the point you can barely make any judgements. It's a league split into three parts, that second part consists of probably 60% of the league and we're firmly wedged into that. Europe is there for the taking for somebody but I've seen nothing this season to suggest it'll be us.

After the top 3 the other sides are completely inconsistent.

On their day Liverpool/Chelsea/Man City could hammer every other side in this division by 3 or 4 goals.

There's a top 3 who are exceptional right now and a bottom 3 that are having shockers, the remaining middle band are all average seasons at the moment.

Its how Football Works, nothing bonkers...Too Many looking at only the foxes perspective ,Hopes und dreams...I

We  are very average with the odd individual skills, dragging us through...

2 clean sheets in 21 matches and 1 of those vs Millwall.

I agree that things could be worse and I'm still grateful for what we've achieved blah blah blah but I think realistically this season our best chance of any success is in a cup...can't see the league being anything other than a top 10 finish. If we could sort our defence out....not constantly go a goal behind and had ample cover for Tielemans I may change that view but we in my opinion we have to many issues at the minute and players in and out of form isn't helping

But we've proved in the past that we're not average, we're certainly not top 3 but we've shown we can be competitive for 4-7. It's clear that the team are under performing and seem at the moment incapable of starting well or playing well for 90 mins.

It's not an ability issue it's a mental/attitude problem.

With the signings we made, I had optimism that this season we would build upon and outperform last season, on the pitch if not in the table.

Now I know that our defensive injuries have been key but putting that aside for a moment we actually seem less consistent and capable than we did last season in several areas.

Our inconsistency is depressing, and it will need a sea change to keep us in the top third of the table come the end of the season.

The prospect of another post-Christmas nosedive is worryingly real.

Sorry, but another one of these threads?

Ok, let's stop any objective criticism of the dross football we keep getting served up - y'know on a forum for discussion - and instead post gifs of us lifting the Premier League and FA Cup from now on.

I think we’ll likely be about 10th by the end of this game week, which feels about right. Feel like it will be one of those seasons where we’re constantly saying “if we could string a few wins together we could get Europe”.

Good to see Rodgers say after the game yesterday the target is still achieving Europe and hopefully nick a trophy along the way. Personally think we’ll probably come about 8th this year, likely behind the big 6 and WHam, which isn’t awful but probably not consistent enough to break into the European places.

Would also like us to have a decent go at the EL if we manage to get out of the group, considering we may not get the chance next year.

The fact that we're 8th, (10th potentially when spurs/man united play their games) and still think that we're doing alright considering our performances, just shows how bad we are and have been for 3/4 of a year now. It's only going to get worse from here if the standard of performance continues, and we've seen nothing to indicate that it wont.

It's a testament to the quality of the squad that we're barely able to put together 20-30 minutes of cohesive football in a game and still be scoring so many. I don't know why teams stop putting us under pressure when they take the lead, it's really poor management from the opposition. It feels like we're a bit of a Man Utd lite (post fergie) in that teams are giving us way more respect than we currently deserve and ultimately it's what is giving us the chance to get back into games.

Imagine the gap between us and 6th will widen a bit by the end of the year.

Has a table been this clumped before? 11 pts between 17th and 4th seems mad. Assuming United and Spurs improve under their new management a clearer gap between the 2 ends of the table should open up a bit.
