I've not been as harsh but I did think that Perez would been more effective than what Madders delivered, over their respective stays at the club, if he had been first choice AMC. They have many similar traits (no strength, no pace) with one working harder and the other more creative. In a team that likes to press, Madders is a weak link without the ball.

That might be true looking back, but Maddison is prolific when in the zone. Now he has repeated his last purple patch we can see it was no fluke, and I take my hat off to him.

Sorry Madders, I have seen the light and changed my view, you are an outstanding creative talent. I'll put up with the average workrate for these world class numbers.

Fair play on outing yourself but you can just repost them again during the season run in/start of next year when he's crap again. Our Madders likes the winter months*.

*This was just a wee light hearted joke. Feel I should specify that before someone's fit bit explodes.

The Maddison criticism was always the most ridiculous. He was a young lad, struggling for fitness and form. Look at him now. If he's not in the next England squad Southgate really is a ****.

I think we've all had a slice of some of that humble pie lately. Madders is gifted no doubt about that and that he's turned things around during our most difficult period in years says something about his mentality and determination as well as Roger's man management. The goals he's scoring are nothing short of spectacular too. Now if only we could polish Perez into something useful.

If it’s any comfort, I remember being vehemently against giving Vardy a chance in attack in 2013 because I thought he wouldn’t cut it at Championship level. lol

Me too. Very glad to have been proven completely wrong.

That’s part two of the plan

I actually don’t think anyone should be sorry. He was bad, his attitude was bad, his priorities were wrong.  Has he fixed it? Yes. Does he deserve credit? Yes.

But should people apologize for rightly criticizing him? Absolutely not.

*obviously this doesn’t go for the over the top comments, but generally people just didn’t like the effort being made

This one’s for you Scrumpy

p.s.

I grew up fast, I grew up thin

Barely had a whisker, on my chin
I was buying stupid clobber, I was chasing tail

Out in my Lambo when the world was in jail
Burning cash in the posh clubs, hitting the darts

Whatever I could do to piss off those old farts

How could the Waistcoat, freeze me out so long
Until I realized that I was wrong

Nothing new. He still needs to be consistent. He always has a run of good games, every season he's been here, just needs to be consistent with it. For himself and for us.

Consistency is what separates the best players from just the normal.

I will hold my hands up, I was done with Vardy after he gave away a last minute penalty against Middlesbrough back in 2013 (which Kasper then saved)

Never been so happy to eat humble pie in all my life 😂

I was exactly the same. Remember saying to my nephew at the time that he's finished here and won't play for us again. I also did the same with Riccy P when he first joined us and he had a shocker when we lost 4-2 at Bournemouth. I can get very irrational when we lose 🤣

I'd like to apologise too (I'm sure he's bothered! 😄). I was really hard on his personality but I can see how much of a team player he is, really supports his team mates and his heart is in every game. Got bags of character to match his skill. I'm sorry Madders and I'm glad you're a blue 💙

I don't see why you need to apologise, unless you claimed that he never had the talent in the first place which would be stupid. He was the pits for quite a while (possibly due to his hip injury) and looked 30% of his full potential for a while. You can only comment on what you see at the time and skimming what you said I can't see anything undeserved at the time.

There's no doubt that when he's on it, he's our most talented creative player.

We just need to see consistency over a season or more now, if we do, we'll be talking about a household name and fighting off the big clubs for his signature.
