I don't like the idea of Youri leaving us and being a flop somewhere in general. He's been a model pro/guy while he's been here (and I don't like or buy the 'he can't be arsed now' stuff being used as a reason for his poor performances this season). The ideal is he goes on to have a glorious career abroad, mysteriously unavailable when we beat whoever he plays for in the European Cup final with Daka and Vardy (in his final game) scoring 6 each, Amartey bagging a brace and Kasper coming out for a cross, all in the first half, with the second half called off for the same reason you don't kick cats round your kitchen while laughing about it. But if he did flop, doing it at an English club (all the more so this specific case (OK, Spurs too)) would certainly take a lot of the sting out of it.
RoboFox Posted 10 February 2022 Posted 10 February 2022 (edited) I wouldn't actually mind him going to United, having thought about it. What would hurt the most about Youri leaving for another English side is him going off and helping them to success at our expense. At least with United we'd almost be guaranteed for this not to happen. The club suffocates players' careers whilst they're there. I can't think of a player in recent years who's gone there and actually seen long-term improvement. There might be a one-season-wonder like Fernandes, but even he looks pretty average nowadays. Fvck, even Cristiano Ronaldo looks a shadow of his former self. It might be petty, but so what? Like with the Maguire deal, we're the only winners out of this. Edited 10 February 2022 by RoboFox

CrispinLA in Texas Posted 10 February 2022 Posted 10 February 2022 Just looked at ArsenalMania, it's even dafter then the Maddison thread last year..... there acting as if there already signed him, talking about what position they will play him and whose the best option to play along side him 😂

His game has changed, he is more combative and dynamic and I can't see him going back to the way he used to play. If anything Braybrooke is more closer to Tielemans in the way he plays. He also has the same problem with engine and physicality. It will be interesting to see how we handle Braybrooke, and the way we end up utilising KDH. Edited 10 February 2022 by sacreblueits442
filbertway Posted 10 February 2022 Posted 10 February 2022 KDH and Youri are vastly different players, don't even know why you'd bother comparing the 2. 3
moore_94 Posted 10 February 2022 Posted 10 February 2022 €50m asking price mentioned in HLN, written by Kristof https://www.hln.be/voetbal/de-ketelaere-ook-op-de-radar-van-leicester-waar-tielemans-droomt-van-toptransfer~ac20c3ed/ Tielemans dreams of top transfer Coach Brendan Rodgers therefore wants to rebuild his team after a subpar season. Leicester hopes to catch around 50 million euros for Youri Tielemans, who refuses to sign. His ambitions are higher than those of The Foxes. Tielemans has been dreaming for a while of a club that plays in the Champions League. That limits his options. At Manchester United they have been following the Red Devil for years, but within the club it is said that the new trainer may also indicate his priorities first. Liverpool are looking for a controller in his midfield, but have several irons in the fire. Barcelona seeks reinforcements, but must weigh budgets. Same story at Juventus. What will it be (or will it be?) 1
Strokes Posted 10 February 2022 Posted 10 February 2022 He would fit Man U like a glove on a foot, I’d love to see them spunk half their transfer budget on him.
MPH Posted 11 February 2022 Posted 11 February 2022 (edited) OR his asking price has been cut to £35m https://metro.co.uk/2022/02/10/leicester-city-reduce-asking-price-for-arsenal-and-man-utd-to-sign-youri-tielemans-16083647/?ito=article.desktop.share.top.link who’s his agent? Del Boy? Edited 11 February 2022 by MPH 1
Sir Shep Posted 11 February 2022 Posted 11 February 2022 I think £35M is about the most we will get for him, one year left and £60M, dream on! 1
fox_up_north Posted 11 February 2022 Posted 11 February 2022 Sadly, we'll not get Maguire, Mahrez or Chillwell money for him. But I think we'll make our money back. There's no guarantee it works out where he goes, either but he's clearly downed tools.
dannythefox Posted 11 February 2022 Posted 11 February 2022 This isn’t going to end well, just get him gone soon as possible. Rodgers needs to publicly say he’s not signing a new deal and we’ll sell to the highest bidder.

I'm not too bothered where he ends up has he's obviously decided he wants out. Sell him to the highest bidder. He will be a loss but not a major loss he lacks consistency and we need experienced, but affordable players who deliver every game. Unfortunately at the moment we don't have many of those. We need to get rid of the 'rabbit in the headlights' defenders who concede a goal at every corner or set piece they have over half a season to sort it. Their confidence has gone and by moving on to another club could restore it. 1
Popular Post filbertway Posted 11 February 2022 Popular Post Posted 11 February 2022 If we were to lose Youri to an English team, Man U would be best as they'll misuse him and hate him within 12 months and he won't be able to hurt us. Also they'll pay well over market value. 7

Sol thewall Bamba Posted 11 February 2022 Posted 11 February 2022 Whatever. Take them to the cleaners again. 1
Scotch Posted 11 February 2022 Posted 11 February 2022 To be honest, get done us a favour. I doubt he was ever going to sign a new deal but his form this season makes it easier to lose him.

We do the exact same thing with players we a linked with by the media.
BKLFox Posted 11 February 2022 Posted 11 February 2022 It would be typical Man U but i expect its paper talk that they are looking at him but as i say would be typical them, they want a certain style player they identify Rice, if they can't get Rice its Phillips if they can't get him ooh ok we'll go for Tielemens makes no sense at all as they have different skill sets so could be true
MPH Posted 11 February 2022 Posted 11 February 2022 To be honest I think Arsenal or Tottenham is the best kind of offer he will get. His form has tailed off considerably this season and considering that there’s no way I’d touch him if I was a top top side. He’d probably have to join the likes of those with a clause inserted naming the truly big teams if they come in for him in a couple of years time..
Finnegan Posted 11 February 2022 Posted 11 February 2022 Some of you really aren't from this planet. Smh. 2
st albans fox Posted 11 February 2022 Posted 11 February 2022 Are we able to make a deal outside of the window ? hence, he can then play without fear of picking up an injury that could scupper any possible summer sale …
