Oh yeah, I do understand. I always have high admiration for managers who setup to win every single match but it isn’t always possible. For clubs like us with smaller sized squads, we have to prioritise games and I think most will come to the conclusion that Thursday is far more important than aiming to finish 9th.

This is true but I think Rodgers is also very aware of the fact it'll be hard to dress up a trophyless season AND bottom half finish. Even with injuries that's a failure. So I think he'll be very adamant on getting top half and not fully resting the 11.

Throughout the season we have been forced to put out makeshift teams and but for a few collapses still could have been challenging for top 6.

 

I would have prefered more trust in fresh 'weak' teams over this prem period than leghargic strong teams.

 

Now it is crunch time a dozen weakened teams have been suggested in this thread and they all look capable to me if well organised.

 

I think most will be forgiving if the Spurs game goes to shiit with squad players but less tolerance if the stars turn out and under perform.

Not expecting anything from this in all honesty. We make such hard work of actually scoring a goal, I just can't see anything other than a loss. I cannot actually remember the last time a goalkeeper had a difficult game against us. We so rarely force any decent saves anymore.

Maybe, but it’s important to look at the bigger picture. Maybe this isn’t representative of the fan base but I’d much rather we went for it next Thursday and forget about the domestic league season.

 

Whilst I have been disappointed with our performance this season, I will be far more sympathetic towards Rodgers if he fully goes for it next Thursday (which I think he will).

Agree with everyone on here we should rest or protect our best players. I would looooov it if we came away with a shi!house draw that would be as good as a win with our 2nd string line up. Spuds are trying to finish 4th and will be playing their classic long ball to their rag & bone men kane and son. Surely we can defend against that if rogers sets them up right. Expect the predictable burgerwine and morass substitutions in extra time. If we do lose just hope its not a thrashing as that doesn't help anyones confidence going into next week.

It's probably a difficult mindset for players when they get picked for games like this because they know they aren't playing the important match. Must knock confidence a little bit.
