He says it's part of it, not "and when I said we were going to shake up the squad, I meant that we were going to France for a week". I'm sure he is still quite keen for us to sign some players.

On a serious note this is only pre-season. It’s nothing to do with the result and based purely on fitness. Some of the comments I’ve seen on FB and Instagram are absolutely embarrassing. So many melts about.

Anyone that thinks the 22/23 season is going to see some miraculous transformation of the horrendous football we've seen served up by BR is seriously clutching at straws. The Celtic fans warned us what to expect and he is living up to it. Nothing will change, however many promises of transformations and shakeup he fobs us off with.

But it was basically a training session - played at a training ground with no limit on subs and no crowd. We are lucky in this day and age that it was televised and we were able to watch it live and for free. Feels a bit entitled to complain that it wasn't entertaining enough!

Depends which manager deploys it and how they play it in fairness. In theory it should be attacking and exciting. We'll soon put a stop to that theory! 🤣🤣

with brendan (same as with pearson) it is used to give us more control in the middle. Which is football talk for we can sit in 451 and try to nick a goal. 

 

until we have 2 goal scoring wingers on the flanks I don’t want to see us touch it.

He is talking Tommy wallocks, he was hoping/expecting to have a big refresh this summer. Whether he came out with that because he really believed the club would play ball and go along with that, or whether he came out with it to give the club a bit of a poke, and to put a little pressure on the powers that be to release some decent money for transfers, he will know.  What he definitely didn't mean was that getting the current players together for a pre season get together abroad, with no players in and out at this time, was always a big part of his master plan for the refresh. He really is deluded Brendan if he believes most fans are going to buy that tosh!

Saw a bit as at work thought Barnes took his goal well, was it just me or has he pushed Barnes through the Middle trying him as a striker?

Certainly, our #4 was good to watch and impressed on the ball, always looking to push us forward. Wormleighton was good again and trying to evaluate the reasons behind our poor defence at set-pieces. No one seems to take charge in those situations and look to organize what we need to do. Every player was looking out for themselves, we were like toy soldiers when they scored their second goal. I think the academy players needed a bit more quality around them.

Do find the praise for Appiah/Eppiah typical of football fans. Plays two very nice cross field passes but was pretty much at fault for their winner
