Brendan said, "Danny Ward is our clear number 1" after Iversen's heroics against Stockport. Ward's position is safe for as long as Brendan is here.

Yeah but don't forget new signings create competition which is what we needed and why we're struggling. But you don't need competition if you're Danny Ward because he's our clear number one.

We all said the same watching the replay

he honestly seems to make himself as small as he can in one on ones - sadly one of kasper’s strengths.

I commented on that as soon as it happened. Absolutely pathetic

How much did we pay Liverpool, £12m wasn’t it?

I was staggered at the time. However, was unconcerned as he was unlikely to play.

I knew nothing about the fella apart from seeing him for the taffs now and then. He's everything I jad half expected tho. Unremarkable. Routine. Uninspiring.

What's ultra bizarre was Rodgers' post match intervention after Iversen won us the game at Stockport - the manager couldn't wait to talk about Ward. Why so keen to talk about somebody as unremarkable as Ward?

The real question is what value does Stowell add to the goalkeeping department ? I’m struggling to think it’s noteworthy

And when Iversen drops a couple of clangers and loses confidence? You can't keep changing keepers, we had all that before Schmeichel.

It's not the real question, it's a question barely worth asking. He's been here for 15 years and was an outstanding keeper in his day, in fact he was credited by Kasper in his farewell message as being a huge part of his development here. You'd have no idea if it was noteworthy because you - like all of us - don't have a clue what work is done on the training pitches each day. The fact that every manager since about 2006 has kept him on the staff shows his value.

He was stood behind the wall tho. He used the wall to cover the left hand side of the goal and then also stood in the left hand side of the goal leaving a clear, empty net.

There is no way Kasper would have left if he didn’t have a bust up with Brendan.

This is what I think as well, Kasper far too professional to let it out in public. We miss him badly.

Felt sorry for ward today, he’s just so shit. Iversen needs to start - surely can’t be any worse?

Mate, at this point we could literally pull out any goalie from the sunday leagues and do better. The bar isn’t exactly set high for Iversen.

I said it a few weeks back that we would really miss Kasper once he had gone.

Now Ward is in goal it shows just how reliable Kasper was.

In defence of Iversen. He would be attractive for new PL clubs, unlikely top half club signing him but way he has performed has earned him shot of being a PL keeper

and judging from how’s he dealt with his other tests I think he’ll take it

really think he has personality to grasp opportunity, think him starting in goal could invigorate the whole team (even with Brendan still there)

Should never have stated a No 1, both could have been given games.

Or is Iversen behind the bike shed fagging it with Cags during training?

I still have no real clue why Kasper departed so abruptly and with no real explanation.

It seemed completely unplanned and only decided just before it was announced.

He was undoubtedly costing us at times with his flapping at corners, but he really was the heart and soul of the team and one of the only leaders left we had.

Such a bizarre end to his time with us, and I think may be contributing to the low morale of the team at the moment.

As for Ward or Iverson, well Ward has been crap so far, so stick Iverson in I say.

I hope it was just a case of us not wanting to give him 100k a week for another 3 years like Nice could offer and Top basically promising to sort him a move if it was what he wanted.

But it well could be something more serious with Fofana hinting at trouble at the top of the club in his statement. Even though Brendan doesn't think he wrote it.

I think anyone could see just how integral Kasper was to us and his flaws were more than made up for with everything else he gave us.
