In a world full of fairly accessible attacking players, why do we always seem to be drawn to the worst ones?

We tend to like cheap wide players and are naive enough to think we are getting a bargain. Not many of those around these days I'm afraid. Or of course you can pay a fortune for Jadon Sancho and still fall flat on your idiot face.

Plus Brendan likes a “broken” players too…. Which is all well and good, but how many times has it worked?

I would much rather we take a punt on a young unknown, rather than a player who he potential at some point. It’s an area of the pitch we seem to want to chance, and it’s not doing us any favours at all.

I'd like to think Glover has spent the last couple of months doing something rather then us going down this route.

Get Boga for LW and move Barnes to RW.

If Praet were to go in January we'd be utterly screwed.

Surely no logic in bringing someone in with no goals/assists in ages to move one of our more effective players do a different position.

It was humour.... I wouldn't want him in full stop either, but Mudeake any day of the week.

It’s not even the lack of goals/assists that turn me off from Boga, it’s that he’s simply not that good of a footballer.

Ayoze isn’t all over the scoresheets but at least the guy has a first touch and can pass the ball with both feet.

Adama Traoré is another RW that is infamous for not having an end product, but at least his unique skill set makes him a useful player for some teams.

There’s almost nothing that Boga does that I’d rate as remarkable. He’s got above average sprinting speed. Other than that, he’s got no left foot, an average right foot, no creative dribbling skills, isn’t a great passer, isn’t a good shooter, isn’t a great crosser, doesn’t get himself into dangerous positions, is short, and and isn’t particularly strong on or off the ball.

When I see Boga (admittedly this is more on YouTube than in actual games these days because he’s not good enough to start), I wonder a lot of things… does he have an amazing agent? Is he a really hard worker in training? Is it not as hard as it seems to make it in top flight football? What is it about Jérémie Boga that separates him from thousands of other professional wingers in the world?

IMO we looked at this guy as a cheap loan option because we thought he was on the discard pile and we literally wanted to spend 0 money.

Now he can't get in the Atalanta side his agent his pushing the same rumours to get him a move and/or it's easy speculation to put on a website for quick content.

Nothing in it. Be genuinely amazed if we go back for him with any actual money, he's pump. Lookman isn't good enough to be a starting player for us and he's keeping Boga out the team. It's not happening.

I know we make some nonsensical decisions when it comes to signing wingers but even we aren't this thick.

It's quite unnerving though the two wingers we are heavily linked with (Boga and Buchanan) are both kept out of teams in inferior leagues to ours by players who couldn't get in our team. OK Lookman was way more established here than Sowah but Lookman was nowhere near as good at RW and when Barnes was fit and on form he couldn't get near him.

...Lookman was never a right winger!!!

He is so much more better on the left and takes up good positions in that respect. His problem was decision making, he chose the wrong options most of the time, but had the knack of being in the right position.

Tajon Buchanan is a regular sub for Club Brugge and very inconsistent and wasteful. He is predominantly on the right with Sowah operating on the left of a front 3. Not convinced about Sowah, does not seem to be trusted with the ball, but he has done well to break into this team, with players like Noah Lang and Olsen in the squad. Lang seems to have lost his way, comes on as a sub but struggles to make an impact.

34 pages on this player makes me feel sick!!!

We had 100 pages on Madueke , a player who is apparently not even as good as Sancho and far more injury prone.

Mercury obsessed with the Boga links. Either they are accurate or the sports reporters at the merc need sacking.

If he is a backup though, with a RW incoming potentially with a CAM too then I'm happy. Maddison will be more inclined to stay and renew a contract if he can roam free behind the strikers (grealish-villa role).
