This signing signaled the beginning of the end of our good reputable of signing future stars for good value. We all knew he wasn’t worth 34mill and 80k a week. Typical Rodgers signing. Overpaying for average players with no re-sale value.

34m now? It’ll be £45m by the time he actually signs.

Sure about the £80k?

Looking forward to the revisionism on him we’ll see once he’s gone and he scores off his knob next month against Celta Vigo.

He doesnt score many headers...

We obviously overpaid for him, but not the worst big money disaster we have had.. ie Slimani, Silva and Mousa.

He’s played more games than those, but I’m not sure his level was that much higher

Should we be letting people leave, in this window? We’re threadbare as it is.

Depends who it is….Bertrand/Vesty ???

Perez joined Leicester from Newcastle in summer 2019 and his salary is thought to be outside Betis’ current pay structure, meaning the clubs and the 29-year-old may to have to agree on a financial settlement to allow him to make the switch.

Didn't Pearson sign him? It's seems much, much longer than a Rodgers' signing - like toothache over Christmas. Thank **** he's (probably) on his way.

Some of you are right he isn’t our worst ever signing… he is twice as good as Junior Lewis … that really isn’t saying much tho

Junior Lewis didn't cost 15m half the cost of Perez though

He will forever be remembered for not being caught for handball in the lead up to Youri's moment of total genius. And scoring goals against rubbish opponents. And that miss at Chelsea. And getting injured a lot. And jogging back half-heartedly once knocked all too easily off the ball.

Also that miss against Fulham - an even easier chance and the idiot puts his laces through it 🤬

The worst signing for us since coming back up. At least with Slimani we got money back through loan fees but this guy has cost the club 30m in transfer fees then 80k pw for 4 years and delivered absolutely nothing.

He always tried to be fair to him but he was just never the right fit.

Sadly I totally agree.

Makes it worse when we paid Newcastle all that money for them to get ASM as his replacement too 👀

Yet another thread that is proof positive that a percentage of people are never happier than when they're finding fault, righteously.

You know I love your posts mate but the other side of the coin is simple, Perez cost £30m so in our top 5 signings (value wise) and we can all feel let down in terms of return surely?

Perez was an expensive gamble that didn’t come off.

And that's fine my friend - my objection is always that it appears that some people need to say it over and over, on any subject, seemingly in every thread. Once is enough, yet some people are on a mission to dominate the forum with their unique take on personal misery.

That's true I believe, and I can put myself in that bracket as well occasionally. I've always liked perez personally and whether we bought him as a RW/10 will always be the issue for me because that's where his style suits him but since he's been here we have played wingbacks or out wide wingers and benched him because he is not pacey enough as well as the fact that maddison has been the mainstay.

In pressure games or important games however he always has that artist about him particularly under pressure.

It’s a thread on Perez and news has broke of his exit. I wonder why people are commenting on him.

I don't think you can read very well. Or you just choose not to, which I suspect is the case with many people, often.

I've never thought he was as bad as some like to claim but this is categorically not true I don't think. 10 of his 15 goals for us have come against Southampton, Sheff Utd or lower league opposition in the cups. When I think of him in the big moments the thing that immediately comes to mind is him shanking over against Chelsea to send them above us. If you want someone to add a bit of gloss to a hammering, he's your man.

I understand what you're saying but in part in relation to the shanking over it isn't fair to put that on him given how much playing time he's been given by Rodgers and like I've said with the styles of football we've switch from over since just pre the fa cup win he appears to be in the middle of a 10 and rw but not being able to push more centrally unless maddison is missing.

Sometimes it's difficult matching stats and watching him when he does play which I always have and I've always found he gives better play 5-10 yards outside the box and influencing play leading up to goals.

Honestly I don't get some people on here, if he was obnoxious or spoke out against the club etc I could understand all the name calling and abuse, but he's a player that tried for us. It isn't his fault we paid £30m for him. It's also not his fault that he isn't good enough for what we expect a £30m player to be. In the real world at your work place if someone wasn't good enough because they weren't skilled enough or intelligent enough, through no fault of trying, would any abuse be hurled at them? I can only put it down to child like behaviour with some of our posters.

He's a pioneer in some ways, if there'd been more players with the rare ability to blaze shots from varying distances over the bar then we'd all be watching rugby.

He's a one off.

Unbelievable amount of abuse the lad gets on here. Always tries his best, very very rarely played in his actual position behind the striker or as a central striker.

Limited player and source of much personal frustration during games but as far as I’m concerned has always given 100% and comes across as a likeable bloke - and FA Cup winner!

Had some great performances with Ricardo in full flight behind him. Sadly they haven't continued, probably right he's moved on for his good of his own career
