Lesta Legend Posted 10 January 2023 Posted 10 January 2023 It be the worlds worst decision to move Perez on right now with injuries. In an ideal world the club will sanction transfers we desperately need but they won’t and we haven’t utilised our youth players where they’re ready to step in. We’re up sh*t creek without a paddle.
AKCJ Posted 10 January 2023 Posted 10 January 2023 Shouldn't be letting him go while he's the second most creative player at the club and with there not being anyone particularly close either. 2
FoxesWalk Posted 10 January 2023 Posted 10 January 2023 Can’t let him him go now, he is our only fit creative player 😂 2
Dames Posted 10 January 2023 Posted 10 January 2023 Says it all about the state of the club that even Perez who's been horrific and probably wouldnt get a contract half as good as he'll get here won't resign.
indierich06 Posted 10 January 2023 Posted 10 January 2023 Might just be getting rid of him to boost funds for our Jan targets. Who knows at this point?

Totally agree. Rodgers is almost playing chess but it seems to me that with many players we've had Inc Soyuncu/Praet to name but two are having arguments and fallouts of whatever severity but instead of managing the situation brendan is instead taking every squabble personally almost with a "little man" syndrome. I don't think there is any solution but to get him gone as he isn't going to change. 1

Purely out of interest. Clearly I'd need to be me at the same time though, otherwise I wouldn't see the difference, and I think being 2 people at the same time would be brain a exploding experience! I'm not having a go at anyone btw, it's something that truly fascinates me.

moore_94 Posted 10 January 2023 Author Posted 10 January 2023 Can get 2 players from around Europe on the wages he earns 1
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 10 January 2023 Posted 10 January 2023 Oh no who else is going to squat 40kgs in the Seagrave gym now 3

We need to think longer-term as short-term thinking has got us into this mess - we've hoarded average players because of injuries and European football. If there's interest in him, take the money and move on to help fund players who have higher potential. 1

ALC Fox Posted 10 January 2023 Posted 10 January 2023 The squad needs a refresh and unfortunately it's probably for the best that he goes. I like Perez. He was decent on the right in our 4-2-3-1 shape but it was clear that he would be more effective through the middle. I just think now that a lot of the players who have been in the cold are completely disillusioned. Perez, and others, will give 100% I've no doubt, but 100% when you're beaten down and despondent is a world away from 100% when you're confident and have something to prove. I think there are a number of players in the squad in the exact same situation. If we can free up his wages and get a creative player whose career is on an upward trajectory, it would be great all round. If not, then we still need Perez. 1

I can’t believe the owners aren’t asking questions, about the wastefulness reign of Rodgers. Dirt. What do you think the summer was about? BR has had too much control of the recruitment and medical side of lcfc.
Gerard Posted 10 January 2023 Posted 10 January 2023 He's been a terrible buy and him costing £30m and leaving on a free whilst sitting on the bench mostly just confirms it. Leicester was an easy club to manage in the summer of 2019 after securing the Tielemans transfer, we just needed to go really big on the RW position and we would have had an awesome team, instead we bought Perez, a mid 20's average PL player and at best that's what he's been for us. A player who is average at this level and with his age and everything we know about him in this league everything pointed that he would never take a step up and improve. I would much rather have seen us take a chance of spending £30m on some 20yo in Ligue 1 or even taken a chance on someone like Lemar who was world class rated at one point but fallen off a cliff. Not that Lemar has been a great success in the last few years but rather a profile like him or a young highly rated at a lowly Ligue 1 side than proven mediocrity at an age with little scope for development like Perez. 1

Would say that Tielemans, Maddison and even Iheanacho are ahead of him in creative terms. But does show how little we have when we don’t either consider wide players in that list.
AjcW Posted 10 January 2023 Posted 10 January 2023 My favourite thing is when he's through and tries to run and then remembers he's put his 20kg football boots on.... 1

That is quite an issue. Blimey. I knew we had a few injuries, but didn't know any of them were terminal. 3
Pliskin Posted 10 January 2023 Posted 10 January 2023 If he is going, we must be confident we’ve got an attacking player in the bag. There’s no way we would let him leave if we didn’t.
Ric Flair Posted 10 January 2023 Posted 10 January 2023 Wouldn't surprise me if we still are trying to move players on before getting any in, the wages issue hasn't gone away has it? The annoying thing is, with our injuries the likes of Praet, Perez, Soyuncu, Mendy and Vesteegaard are likely to be lumbered here until the summer anyway. 2
DoveValleyFox Posted 10 January 2023 Posted 10 January 2023 Perez would have been lynched already if the FA Cup final goal had been ruled out for handball. As it was the goal stood and Perez will be remembered for that. Unfortunately that is one of very few highlights. He can play quite well in a high press or general closing down in a role supporting the striker. If he could play better in another element of forward play then he would be a success. I guess that he has dined off of one good season at Newcastle and it happens quite often at this level. I think that he needs to drop a level and enjoy his football again, even if that means us paying part of his wages until his contract expires.

Only reason he'd go mid season is that we're definitely going to bring someone in, albeit possibly a loan. We're not going to let him go and not replace his goal contributions and, respectfully, that shouldn't be extremely difficult regardless of our finances. 1
jayfox26 Posted 10 January 2023 Posted 10 January 2023 Would be very leicester to let perez, praet and vester leave and sign absolutely nobody and leave is in a shit state for the rest of the season. Or maybe sign another keeper for good measure!
