LCFC 2-0 West Ham - Post Match Thread

Not at our best, but a brilliant result. I was quite disappointed with West Ham. They have over the last few years absolutely battered us, often times in an extremely impressive manner. They never really looked like scoring today, despite spending a lot over the summer.

 

Hope Maddison is OK, he was miles above everyone else on the pitch whilst he was on, and not just for England, but for the entire tournament, it would be good for him to go. Though the fact that the World Cup is next week just shows what a farce it is.

Honestly thought we could be gone by the World Cup. Two points per game in the last eight. Six clean sheets too.

 

Pressure, albeit self inflicted, was on and we responded.

Did not expect us to be 4 points ahead of 18th before the world cup.

Best win of the season. We were murdered in the second half but defended brilliantly. The pass from Perez was eye wateringly brilliant, and the finish from Barnesy was superb. A massive win, and dare I say it, "we are staying up"

A lot of comments in the match thread about how shit we were but that's an excellent win. Battling rather than quality yes but don't think we were ever in that much danger. It wasn't a pretty match. 

 

 

Another reminder that our squad is so much better than most of the other sides in this league. We really do underappreciate that sometimes.

Just wondering how that young lady I met in the directors box on Tuesday night who could only get a ticket in the West Spam home fans got on today, having to sit on her hands or did she manage to sneak Into the away end ?

Incredible performance.

That took guts. Gumption. West Ham dominated for huge portions of the game.

Amartey, Ward, Thomas and Wout were all incredible.Our success is built off our misery defence.

So clinical on the counter too from Barnes.

And Brendan? What is there to say. I was disappointed with some of his comments when the going got tough but I am much happier when he lets his coaching do the talking. Really astute subs, Mendy and Wilf controlled the midfield so well. Vardy was such a dangerous pest and Perez faded a little but was key to that second goal.
We should have had a third with the missed penalty.

What a win. 

Defence is the bedrock of who we are. Timmy had a very poor game but his teammates made up for his errors, which is what good teams do when a mate is having a mare. Just all class today.

Mahrez could play alongside Wout and Wout would make Mahrez look like a worldclass CB

Fantastic result, missed a lot of the game cause of the shit streams.

 

It's been a massive turn around and we are now looking like a real threat.

The World Cup has probably come at the wrong time for us! We are doing really well at the moment.

 

Though we weren't at our best, I think we played a good overall game today. Until Maddison got injured we bossed the game and had all the ball. We looked dangerous and deservedly scored. After that we played on the break, and both the penalty we won and the second goal we scored were testament to how well we executed it. We defended well the entire game, and lots of subs had a good impact on the game. Praet was the one who struggled a bit, but no one in our squad right now is playing in the same vein of form as James Maddison, so perhaps that's a little harsh.

 

@Matttalked about playing a mixed style, so interesting to get your take! Given West Ham are a team that usually put us to the sword, that was a very, very good result.
