He looked deeply uncomfortable when asked why Foden was not brought on. The longer that he is manager the more it becomes obvious that he has favourites and is not willing to trust maverick creative players.

Quite like him as a person, seems nice and he’s a welcome break in terms of his media persona. But he just isn’t up to the job. Even the success of the last two tournaments felt hollow to me.

he’s a tournament manager 

 

he played last night perfectly once it got to sixty minutes 

 

don’t lose was the mantra after that - we now have to lose to wales by 4 goals not to make the last sixteen 

 

The idea of the tournament is to get as far as you can 

 

his problem is that his limitations mean we can’t actually win it

He seemed more happier after last night than when we won 6-2 which says  something  about his mind set maybe .

 

Done well to get a squad together that want to play for each other etc but are doubts over his in game management.
