Some people who are feeling bad might feel a bit less bad if they shift those bad feelings to others.

This is bad.

I have observed, if a player e.g. has a good night but makes one mistake, everyone tends to concentrate on that, blame the individual for losses etc.

Personally I have never understood that mentality, we win and lose as a team, and I think Maddison had a very good game.

In most games all players will make mistakes but they get overlooked when the team wins.

I have seen it with other players as well, people concentrating on single mistakes and ignoring the rest of the performance.

I'm waiting for the criticism of Iversen for letting 2 goals in.

Maddison had a great first half but was absolutely shite after that penalty.

I think we watched a different game, I felt his second half was better than the first, he made some great turns and also some key interceptions.

Not saying it was a 10/10 but my immediate reaction to his performance was wow this is the best game he has had for a while, but then I thought at FT I bet loads are laying into him because of the penalty, and I wasnt wrong.

Maddison did some great work further back but in an attacking sense he was pretty awful today. He overplayed it so many times and instead of making the pass to keep us moving ran into trouble. He killed so many good opportunities

And no one ever, ever, gives the opposition any credit.

People forget they've got as much right as us to try and win the game.

It would be a fair point if our players didnt gift the opposition so many goals through needless mistakes. This is why people are mad because these mistakes aren’t a one off or irregular. They are every single game.

Scapegoating:   uncomfortable feelings such as anger, frustration, envy, guilt, shame, and insecurity are displaced or redirected onto another, often more vulnerable, person or group. The scapegoats are then persecuted, enabling the scapegoaters to discharge and distract from their negative feelings, which are replaced or overtaken by a crude but consoling sense of affirmation and self-righteous indignation.

I thought second half was worse than his first half, spent too much time just over playing it around their box and losing it cheaply

You're spot on. Our fans in the post match thread are fvcking embarrassing it makes me cringe.

Madders literally came to life when he moved inside in the second half and was core to every attack.

With huge love, you’re talking bollocks x

Totally agree.

Why repeatedly sing about Maguire being crap tonight when lifting our own players seems less childish and possibly a little more productive?

Much love back but I thought he overplayed it regularly and kept losing it. Didn't play the obvious passes. Still love him but thought he was ropey second half.

Then again, I thought Daka played well, so what do I know? lol

We're in serious danger of getting relegated so people are on edge. I take it like me people were screaming at the screen all game? Pretty normal imo

Um because we’re hovering above the relegation zone and shouldn’t be maybe? Individual errors can literally be pointed to for the majority of this god awful season

I found Maddisons performance frustrating as it was a game he has the ability to grab by the scruff of the neck, instead to many Hollywood moments, decisions made for individual glory rather than the good of the team, it isn't even just the penalty.

My opinion on this Madders penalty debate - firstly no question about it. Our talisman Vards has completely bottled it. He should be grabbing that ball off anyone else that tries to take it. Then if he doesn't the captain has to step in and take ownership. It was a case of madders saying 'OK if no one else wants it I'll take it' which is never a good thing. OK BUT once he said he'll take it. In a match like this, stick it in the corner. Don't try to be clever. Just tw4t the ball in the corner. And if its saved then fair play. That was a poor penalty as you will ever see.

Now the rest of it. Yes he takes too many touches, sometimes it pays off and sometimes it doesn't. When you're in a dog fight like we are, it's simple play that needs to be done. The other team are fighting hard for the ball. They'll crowd you if you hold the ball too long and that's what happened every time. He didn't learn.
