Popular Post StriderHiryu Posted 21 July 2023 Popular Post Posted 21 July 2023 6M euros, you can take punts at that price. Finnegan’s analysis is great to see. In terms of the eye test he’s really rapid. Pep used wingers that were fast and skilful in terms of being able to beat a man one on one, and pose some kind of goal threat. Guardiola also managed to get Sterling to score tons of goals despite being a pretty poor finisher. The system creates chances, if we get a player with right characteristics, they should do alright. Based on that I’ll wait till game 5 till I write him off completely and start booing him. 2 12

ALC Fox Posted 21 July 2023 Posted 21 July 2023 Bringing back an English player brought up at a North London club's academy before going abroad to test himself and excelling on the continent? This is clearly the beta test before we bring in Marcus Edwards in a year's time 1

Interestingly, Mavididi has a better goal scoring rate of return in Ligue 1 than Marcus Edwards does in Liga NOS for a better club. 2

Finnegan Posted 21 July 2023 Posted 21 July 2023 Got better finishing on football manager than Barnes. 3
FoxinNotts Posted 21 July 2023 Posted 21 July 2023 twice as many assists as Harvey Barnes last season 2
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 21 July 2023 Posted 21 July 2023 His figures look very good. It’s seems a good signing. Not that I heard of him before but why is there reluctance.

Looking at the three seasons he's been in Ligue 1 and comparing him to Barnes over the same time he has 0.32 goals per game vs 0.36 for Barnes. In that time Barnes created 0.12 expected goal assists per game vs Mavididi at 0.09. Mavididi makes slightly fewer key passes a game but has a much better take-on success percentage and does a LOT more defensively. We could do a lot, lot worse really. Bit harsh to question his end product because of the way some twelve year old has edited his Media Studies project to focus more on the dribbling. inb4 Mavididi becomes your defining Flair moment 1

Any transfer could. In @Ric Flair defence, I think Tete is a terrific talent and I'm fairly confident he'll go on to have a great career in Europe's top five leagues. He'll be back playing Champions/Europa League football long before us I imagine. In the two seasons that Tete has been out of Ukraine he's played almost identical number of 90 minutes as Mavididi and has 0.48 goals per game to Mavididi's 0.3 and 0.21 assists per game to Mavididi's 0.13. Tete was great on paper and Ric was right to be excited. We don't know why he flopped, realistically there's a good chance he just didn't have time to come in and get settled and get used to the league and club with such a poor man manager in a desperate situation and the morale of the squad in pieces. Or maybe it's more than that, maybe his languid style and smaller frame just aren't cut out for the Prem. Stephy is definitely far more athletic, he's taller, he's stronger, he's also a local lad born and raised in the Midlands. All of those things could help, as could him playing at a lower level. We'll see. I'm absolutely not spaffing myself telling everyone he's mustard! But I do think he's a very good find for a Championship team and some of the cynicism is undue. 10

80footgiraffe Posted 21 July 2023 Posted 21 July 2023 Saw a comparison to Zaha on another forum. Any truth in that @Finnegan?

Vardys figures were good, but in non league Amartey looked like he would be a good signing Youri Tielemans was a bit trash before he came here Albrighton wasn't good enough for the premier league Ayoze Perez was one of Newcastle's stand out performers Fuchs arrived as a deadball specialist Point is, you never really know what you're going to get when any transfer goes through. There are numerous different, human factors to squeeze into the equation. This lads figures could be good or could be bad but I don't, and I suspect you don't know either, the style of Montpelier's play, what the manager asks of him, how well he gets in with his team mates, generally how happy he is in his surroundings etc etc etc Some work out, some don't. For £6m I don't see this as much of a risk. Our only problem is if we don't bring someone else in, if he's coming as a starter and then he's trash, we're in a pickle as we've no one to replace him 2
