quote ?

It’s his agent splashing the news around. You’ll not find a direct quote from him, but it’s sources at the club saying it too. You can play the whole ‘ he’s not said it so  it’s not true’ line if you want, but you’ll soon see…

If any of the long standing players had demonstrated the necessary capacity for directing, leading, cajoling, encouraging etc then there would be no argument. The problem is they haven’t. This is one of the reasons we slipped out of the premiership with a whimper. We do not have any established players with these attributes because they are too nice. Cody plays the role players like Henderson performed at Liverpool. He is gobby. Nags, directs, instructs. He’s in the opposition’s faces and challenges refs. Just what we need

Guys, before someone can be captain and be listened to, they need to earn the respect of others. Cody may well have the attributes, but he has not earned anyone’s respect simply by showing up. It would have the reverse effect if he is thrown in there to act as captain without having done anything for the Foxes. It is not like he is someone like Ronaldo either who has done extraordinary things outside of the club that others will respect. No disrespect, but Cody played for Wolves and he was out of favour. Cody is no Henderson. He is clearly not ready to be made captain here. Yes it is different, but look at what happened to Macguire at Man U - made captain as soon as he arrived without proving himself. The fact that the manager is even mentioning Cody worries me about the manager’s own lack of experience.

Vardy has been here for a very long time, helped us win the PL, showed loyalty and is still here despite being relegated. That in itself is half way towards being a successful captain (show by action), and it is especially important for us this season after being relegated (to show that we need to stick together and stay to fight to compensate for the bad showing last season). Ricardo has been here for a while now as well. Both internationals. Neither of them have had the chance to be captain so it is hard to conclude what you said. Plus, whether they are good leaders or not, they would have more respect amongst team members. Why would Vardy, Ndidi, Winks etc listen to Cody?

My top 3 targets would be:

1) Taylor Harwood-Bellis (21 years old)

2) Ronnie Edwards (20 years old)

3) Jacob Greaves (22 years old)

All three are young therefore have long term transfer value and all three fit Enzo’s system and style of play.

Young and mobile is key.

his agent can splash all the news around he want's, if Enzo wants to keep him then we will see previous transfers when players are under contract, he won't be going anywhere.

All three would cost at least 8m-15m I doubt that we would splash that amount of money unless we get money from player sales, I think the incoming CB will be a free agent.

Nelson?

Still pretty young and limited experience, need to go on loan somewhere and get a season under his belt, Only has around 1800 minutes league at L2 experience.

Compared to Ronnie Edwards a player mention on this tread who has over 5000 at Championship and League 1 level.

Last thing we want is Nelson sitting behind the likes of Faes, Doyle, Vestergaard and Coady.

He need to be out getting games.

I thought the 4 last signings because they did fairly well when they came in were the clubs signings not Rodgers 🤷‍♂️

Souttar like Vesty were clearly Brendans signings or at least with his blessing.

Would still like us to try JJ as a RCB in the mould of Kyle Walker at Man City. He certainly fits the bill in terms of pace,  mobility and being comfortable on the ball. Doing this would also mean that we could then direct more of our limited transfer funds towards addressing the urgent need for more attacking midfield and winger options.

I just think it’s a matter of time with this one, he’s still not fully fit is he otherwise he’d be playing I think.

Has anybody seen much of Ronnie Edwards? A lot seem to be calling for him, just wondered how much they'd seen of him?

This might be a bit of a stretch but... Eric Dier?

Ticks a lot of boxes, another leader, and he doesn't seem to be fancied by Ange at Spurs.

Would be similar to the Coady deal, England caps, vocal etc.

We can’t have a captain who has only been here for 5 seconds.

Definitely Vardy, Albrighton or one of the players who have been here for a longer time.

why? for me a manager should pick a captain based on what he observes in training, based on leadership qualities and motivation, not on how long they've been here

That’s for club captain?

Team captain needs to be someone who plays almost every game.

KDH for captain as he will play most league games you would assume.

Being a Captain should have nothing to do with how long someone has been at the club .Vardy is not Captain material regardless of how long he has been here & remember he is probably in his last season here. Spurs made Maddison Vice-Captain before he had even played for the club. If Maresca thinks Cody is the man then he should do it, It shows progressive  thinking.

The players will listen out of respect for the man, not because he has been here the longest.

from the games ive seen him play hes always looked comfortable on the ball and reads the game pretty well too, hes quick but not eating jet fuel quick

he'd certainly be a decent addition, more so than THB , probably wouldnt cost as much as him either
