Minus Maddison,Barnes,KDH and Jonny sicknote Evans. Also minus Natcho and Daks injured. Also Vardy 2+ years older. We are doing well to be competing in games.Think the problem lies deeper than the Manager.Any candidate thinking of his reputation would not touch us with a long barge pole. Do you think the world is basically flat with round edges ?

Last season proves this team can be unified and all come together singing from the same hymn sheet. This squad is better than that team that got relegated in my opinion, it’s got a better balance to it. Our issue lay with the manager, he’s unable to get a grip on the side, and it just clearly isn’t working. This idea that there’s some deeply routed problem was out to bed last season, yes the board has made mistakes, but that’s what they are. Enzo has proven this squad is capable of being moulded with clear and concise leadership, Cooper seems to be incapable of achieving either with us. We lost Maddison, Tielemens and Barnes. People don't realise how good the side was. If we would have sacked Rodgers earlier, stayed up and then got a good manager in the summer then we'd have pushed again for top 6 with the squad we had then. This season's squad is not better and we still rely on a 37 year old to score goals ffs. I am not taking last season and comparing it with this season. Last season we were up against the likes of Rotherham and Plymouth. We had one of the best squads in the Championship ever and rightly got promoted. This squad is "capable".... in the Championship. Cooper is the issue, obviously as he is manager, but some of these players are awful and would not get into any other PL team. Edited 30 September 2024 by Fox92 1

The_77 Posted 30 September 2024 Posted 30 September 2024 We’re conceding an average of 2 goals per game both expected and actual. Not a good recipe for success when you have to score 2 goals to get a point or 3 to get a win. Something needs to change, and quickly.

I can't figure out whether you're being serious or not saying that. Because the rest of the post makes sense - this squad is definitely good enough to stay up (under the right manager).

Should have said ......This team is substantially weaker than the relegated team. The weak players have remained and the better players have left. This leaves us with a weaker team than the one that was relegated. That's why we are poor and Cooper has actually got us over achieving according to the Xg stats. We are in a relegation fight with or without cooper. Should give him until Xmas to get us over achieving further and throw some money at it in January. 1

I would argue those xG stats point to the players overachieving in this system rather than the manager? They're converting nothing chances. 3

So what I mean by squad being better is the overall balance of the team, is better considering the context of this current situation we’re in. That team was imbalanced, lacked motivation, and lacked any kind of cohesion. and let’s not forget got relegated rather pathetically… In terms of better, the dynamics within this squad and the overall balance is better. Under a proper coach, I think a combination in midfield is better, and we’ve actually got two wingers rather than one. I’m certain under a decent coach both Mavadidi and Fatawu can be as productive as Barnes was. The defence is largely the same with the addition of Okoli, and the strike force is the same with the addition of Edouard. Barnes, Maddison, Tielemans and Castagne may well be decent individuals, but that season they were largely hideous along with the rest of the team, but again how much of that was down to poor coaching? We’ve got some different profiles on the team now, who I like and think are decent players, and the overall balance of the team is a lot better than it was, problem is Cooper, he can’t get the balance right because he just hasn’t got a grip on this team. 3

splinterdream Posted 30 September 2024 Posted 30 September 2024 we had exceptional players when we got relegated, some couldnt care less and likely unfit (tielemens, soumare, evans, thomas, ndidi, bertrand), those that cared, but couldn't perform miracles vardy, maddison, barnes, kdh, ricardo, castagne, Faes, and those that weren't good enough ward, thomas, amartey, Praet, daka, nacho and then those frozen out vestegaard, soyuncu, Mendy. When you look at the squad, it is crazy we were relegated, we were just unbalanced imo and could have easily saved it 2

This despite Cooper's insistence to recruit forwards with PL experience in terms of Cordova Reid and Ayew; both signings reflect their value to Fulham/Palace which is zero or very little. In that respect, both have lived up to my expectations.

Barnes was ineffective as he was always marked out of the game as we had no natural right winger to mix it up, or a LB overlapping. Maddison came deep to try and make things happen but was on his own as Ndidi, Tielemens and Soumare looked like they were running through treacle. Vardy, Nacho and Daka just weren't getting the supply or had a crisis of confidence.
