Not the first politician to turn up at a sports team. Not sure what the fuss is about.

Yes fair point wasn’t an official club visit so they probably couldn’t say no .

Farage turning up to Clacton's local team - fair enough but Ipswich is a different town and constituency.

Sunak went to Southampton , Starmer goes to Arsenal. Both are fans and can actually talk about football.

Apparently he was not invited by Ipswich.

They've booked the facilities and had a stadium tour that anyone could go on.

However, I highly doubt Ipswich didn't know about it. But it's win win for him isn't it. He either gets to pose at a football club looking like a salt of the earth or they refuse to let him and he gets a lot of media and attention out of pretending to be outraged that he was banned from Ipswich Town.

Yeah this is what I mean. It’s dangerous to get mixed up. In terms of the outrage, as a club, just refuse to get involved politically. As long as you don’t then let Starmer or Polanski walk around you can’t be accused

of prejudice.

As I say, if they didn’t know which I did read was the case, even if you believe that, it’s careless.

Farage such a cretin. Very punchable face.

Notably on the shirt he signs it to 'To Mark'.

Mark Ashton being Ipswich's club chairman is just some massive coincidence.

Either way, Ipswich Town are extremely dim to split their own fanbase in half now. Much like we occasionally see some of the inane chanting which has taken place at LCFC away games this season.

I find this pretty galling as well to be honest. I'm not a fan of Keir Starmer, but I never heard any derogatory songs from our away support about Boris Johnson, Theresa May, Rish Sunak or David Cameron when they presided over the worst prolonged period of governance in this country's modern history.

Imagine I'll get pelters for this, but hey.

I’ve heard negative chants about starmer from multiple fanbases this season including our own.

I do also recall anti Cameron chants by many a fanbase.

The chants about Starmer do eclipse any other PM though, mostly from away fanbases…again including our own.

really weird that it's specifically for Starmer and not been done for many if any of his predecessors as PM (I remember a smackering about Diane Abbott and Corbyn back when they were relevant) though. Short of politics affecting us all, which is a bit of a cop-out, I don't really see how it is that Starmer affects football in a way that Sunak, Johnson, May (leaving Truss out given she lasted one international break) didn't.

I don’t wanna get TOO political for the football side of this thread but I think it’s fairly obvious why the majority of vocal fans in away ends don’t like Starmer.

Most vocal football fans (celtics green brigade aside) don’t tend to be the type you’d find at an Antifa rally or outside a British air base being used by USAF.

Seeing a picture of a Nigel Farage style flag at Charlton away from our fans was one of the lowest moments in 25 years of supporting this club.

Starmer is a genuine football fan and played football every week until recently.
Neither of them should be brought up at the football.

It's funny because I don't strictly subscribe to the idea of keeping politics out of football. For instance, there are some football clubs that are political in nature for different reasons and it's impossible to depoliticise them. For example, Celtic were founded as a charity for Irish immigrants in the East End of Glasgow. The history of the club is highly political.

However, I've always seen Leicester as politically neutral. We weren't born out of particularly politically charged circumstances and given that we are a one club city and county, it's reasonable to expect a wide range of people with different viewpoints within the support. I don't think your world view should affect determine whether you can support Leicester or not, and I'd much rather not be surrounded by people singing about Starmer, Farage, Tommy Robinson etc. I'm consistent with this, as I'd also think it would be out of place to sing songs in favour of Polanski, Corbyn, Davey or songs about Farage being a willy puller, at Leicester games.

it's actually not obvious, unless it's literally just reflexive hatred of labour because he's just a lot of nothing, bland centrist. He's not exactly a just stop oil type.

Only the past week a government backed law has saw the first criminal charge for ‘jibbing’ yet as per a lot of ticketing laws, it only applies for football. No law for other sports or music events. Despite the latter having a more recent issue of overcrowding at events

They should ask him to name Ipswich's starting XI last Saturday, to see how much of a fan he is
