I’d just give it to Fatawu for a laugh to be honest. He’s already gained our hearts, why not the captaincy as well? He’s one of the only likeable players we have at the minute so I wouldn’t want it going to anyone else anyway.

 

Realistically though, It’ll probably be Hamza. He shouldn’t even be anywhere near the squad, let alone the armband but oh well.

What an awful shortlist of potential captains we've got. The fact Hamza is so close to the top of people's list is an indictment of the club

I honestly don’t care who the captain is, it’s just an admin job now, if you need to be encouraged or motivated by an individual while on the pitch then you shouldn’t even be there in the first place, the Manager tells you your job and you do it nothing more needed then that

It's a fair point of view, but I can't agree.  One of the factors that carried us over the line in 2015-16 was the strength of character that Pearson brought in with his signings, of which 5 or 6 were "captain material".

 

Part of the reason for our downward track over the last 5 seasons has been the weakness of mentality and commitment in our players.

Winks is a complete snake and about as tough as a slug when they going gets tough

I'd go with Ben Nelson. Only 21 but so was Davis Nish when he captained the side in the '69 cup final.

Hamza no thanks. Apart from his personal issues, we've loaned him out and tried to sell him and now we're going to make him captain? 

 

Thomas, you must be joking. He struggles to concentrate on his own game, never mind anyone else's. 

 

Warming to Nelson if he's going to be a regular starter but how about his CB partner (hopefully) Okoli. 

 

He's a beast and he looks like he'd get respect from the players, and I always believe the best captains are defenders.

Says a lot about our squad building that none of us can really name anyone we'd be thrilled with.

 

Wouldn't exactly say even Ricardo strikes me as a typical leader, just think he's the only older player we don't hate.
