With the arrival of Carranza, there's no more hiding, Patson.

It's make-it-or-break-it-time. We can't use another near-scoreless season.

If he doesn't deliver until the end of the year, he should be shipped to another club (provided we have offers).

Percy confirmed Betis had bid for him but we turned them down as we wanted £10mil

Betis could of bid £1m for all we know

The money still gets paid into his bank account no matter what.

His contract is up next summer so nobody is going to buy him in January

Dunno, teams get desperate in January and nobody wants to lose their starting striker but desperate teams looking for goals then either pay over the odds or take a punt. Someone might be desperate enough to take a punt on Daka.

Considering he's on about 70k/week and leaving next summer for free, it was a no brainer to sell him to Betis. Even If they were only offering a few million.

I’d normally agree, but when we are so short up front and even though he isn’t great he could score 10+ goals this season I’m not sure.

Indeed, didn't Real Madrid pay 10M quid to get Alexander-Arnold a few weeks early for the WCC?

Let's not persist with this nonsense. He's never done it, never will do it and has spent the last 3 years living off "that night in Moscow" and people insisting "he's got pace".

He's off to AFCON again in Jan isn't he? Potentially rules him out of the season til Feb. Leeds will be relegated by then anyway 😁

Without knowing the offer from Betis or how much of his wages they were prepared to cover it’s difficult to judge or comment as to whether the club should have accepted the offer, however given we have moved a few players on this summer for reasonable offers, I think it’s safe to assume this wasn’t an offer that was that attractive.

Would not be shocked if there is quite a lot of interest in January and that we get a few offers hopefully in and around the £5m mark and to cover his full wages, from clubs who desperately need a striker to either cover injury or from a club desperate to try and throw the dice to rescue their season.

Can’t see how any club justifies covering his wages to be honest, isn’t it reported to be £70k a week? His output clearly isn’t worth that salary. Think he’ll stay put and accept he’ll never get the contract like the one he’s had here.

He does have pace, not as much as when be bought him, mind. Reminds me of the Ahmed Musa situation.

What he also has – which we found out pretty early on – is a terrible first touch.

And that scoring records in the Austrian top division don't translate well abroad.

With Marti Cifuentes, it's the last straw for me. Either he manages to motivate Daka, or the latter's got to move.

There's also still a few transfer windows open for another week or so. There's always hope. And RB Salzburg.

We’ve basically chosen not to accept a low bid and pay his wages in exchange for a back-up striker who is useful in defending from the front.

He’ll go for free at the end of the season as for the above role his wages no matter what league we are in next season need reducing significantly.

I’d rather we sold and got in a loan from the PL but that ship has sailed

Just making an assumption we wanted £10million to then replace him with Ivanovic

We can only guess at the figures but it seems an opportunity missed to not sell Daka and replace him with Ivanovic.  If, say, we had to cough up 10mill for him but got 5mill for Daka then bringing in Ivanovic for effectively 5mill seems like a worthwhile gamble.  If Ivanovic really could have made a significant difference, and given he has room for improvement, then that seems a good forward-looking move with promotion and next season in the Prem as our ambition.

A lot of ifs, admittedly.

Seems a good idea to cash in , But i think we need another number 9 in ?  What if Carranza doesnt work out or gets injured.  where is the back up?   id try to shift him in Jan and then get somone else in

Daka going to miss the most of December due to Afcon anyway.

I'd take a risk and sale him.

It's not about motivating Daka. He's just not a very good player. He seems a decent guy and always seems like he works hard and gives his all but he's just not good enough
