Fofana was mustard with us - hard to remember given how he left and the absolute weapon he's turned out to be

He was very good last night against Arsenal. If only ?.

I know he’s not liked on FT, but as a supporter since 1965-66, he’s the best CB I’ve seen in our shirt.

IMO

Evans was a very good centre back but I wouldn't rank him above Morgan and Huth. Them 2 were both magnificent for us and not just in the title winning season.

Is Kristiansen almost back? He is dog but would take a literal golden retriever over Thomas

Retriever? I would take a  3 legged jack russell with arthritis in its knees over Thomas

I think it’s a case of overestimating him as he’s not playing, he always looks like he is about to die when running and like he’s running in treacle. Honestly not much in it!

I hope Lascelles can bring some much needed leadership to the squad, it’s really lacking strong characters l

We have a history of signing decent CBs late in their career. I'm thinking of Sinclair, Huth, Taggert, Morgan. Even Coady, though that didn't work out great.

So hopefully iLaselles is another. I just hope he doesn't get poisoned by the bad Eggs in the squad.

Had to double check this as the post made me question myself but Taggart and Morgan were both 28 and Sinclair 27 when they joined.

Huth was actually 31 so the only one similar

Wasn’t he Newcastle’s captain for quite a while? Just hoping if he was then he must have some strength of character and be able to resist any current negativity and hopefully be an uplifting presence.

All presumption of course. Never met the fella.

Fair enough- it’s all about opinions, I’ll stick with mine!

Eh?

Morgan

Sinclair

And Taggert were all 27 when we signed them.

Hardly late in their careers.

If Jamaal survives the birmingham game I'd make him captain.

I think it'll be pretty much enforced. Hamza out means we've got Ricardo's Biscotti ankles playing twice a week so it'll be a matter of time before he's out as well.

Ricardo and Thomas must have RSI from passing backwards all the time.

My hope is that he speaks the truth to the idiots and stop them from being cowards, creating their own problems with inviting the press and then passing it to their team mates to deal with.

People forget: You don't need positive influence on the pitch alone.

No matter how often Lascelles will be able to play in the last 16 league games this season, maybe he can act as an inspiration regardless.

Because one thing is clear: What this club needs more than anything else is leadership – and professionalism.

Aluko is a right back.

Lascelles is a very good player imo, well was, If his lack of fitness and match practice somehow get played through he'll be far better than anyone else we have. I just don't think he'll manage it, but fingers crossed.

Our captain for 6 years.

He was also part of our ‘leadership group’ implemented by Howe when he came in, responsible for overseeing the team, upholding standards and escalating any issues.

If he’s fit there aren’t many better signings you could have made. At worst you’ll still get relegated but he’ll probably punch Winks.
