Russell Martin will not be supported by the fans. It's a joke appointment and he was an appalling record.

That depends on what you mean by 'the fans'.

If whoever it is comes in and wins the first three league games convincingly, then the overwhelming majority of the fans will get behind him. I dare say a fair percentage of forum users here woiuld too. Opinions change very quickly in the face of the right results/performances.

Wouldn’t for me. There is no future with Martin, even if he got us up then what? Play that football in the championship which everyone hates and get beat every week? It’s just wrong.

Seriously, why not?

He knows the level (albeit not as a manager), the club and its ongoing challenges and a need for stability.

It'd be a great opportunity for him.

He was crap as a caretaker, he’s been in the back room staff for a while whilst we’ve been crap and shown nothing. If he got the job he’d last about 2 months if he was lucky. Just a crap suggestion really

And the whole time he was saying at every opportunity that he didn't want the job, he felt he wasn't ready to be a manager and needed more time to develop

I can't fathom out why a few think RM would be ok. A disaster at Southampton when they were in the Prem (too stubborn to adopt alternative line ups) and then goes to Rangers who should always finish first or second, but is sacked after they are languishing eighth after the worst start in the club's history. I try to be supportive of new managers, but I'll find it hard to get behind this clown.

You could say that about a lot of ex players.

It's not the right time to experiment.

He's clearly not ready, he needs a good manager to learn from in a coach/assistant role before he makes the step up. He clearly said he wasn't ready and this summer he still won't be.

We need a proven steady hand to get us out this league. Someone who can rebuild the pathetic 'culture' at the club to reset, King hasn't got the experience to do that.

I do want him in some capacity here though as his attitude is spot on.

He’ll get well supported in the stadium.

Foxestalk will hate him.

However if we get a few wins, people will gloss over the fact he’s a bit of a *****.

He’s not that different to Rodgers if we are honest,

I’d rather clear the lot and just start again at this point.

Thr boardroom appears to be a mess.

We have no idea on playing staff.

Top is off playing polo is you look at Insta, Rudkin is most likely off on his holidays.

Rowett was a disaster, an utter disaster.

He got Southampton promoted. We wasn’t much better the year after as we both got relegated. We could do a lot worse than RM imo. If he gets the players he needs then it will work in this league 100%

He won 1 game from 7 in the SPFL with the second biggest budget in the league leaving them sitting eighth. He was also fond of publicly blaming the players and not taking responsibility. He's probably the worst manager Rangers have ever had.

Well, to be fair, what Top probably wants is that young dynamic manager with tactics and character to drive the team  into European places again…

however reality tells you, a 1st division team isn’t appointing anyone like that… so Martin it may have to be… ideally on a 1-2 year contract so we can twerk ourselves around for a better manager when on the up

When Russ gets the job, all we need is a big striker on the bench so that when the tippy-tappy football fails to break down teams we have a plan b.

Let's lump on now and earn some money cos we all know it's gonna happen

Think for me I just desperately wanted someone with a bit of versatility for once, so if we do move on or they move on we won’t be scrambling for a ‘new version’ of the old manager, which I don’t think tends to work out unless you are a top top level team. It’s how we we ended up getting relegated from the Prem twice over

We're skint remember. The players you require to play the football RM tries to serve, are better quality than L1 players. Even the players at Rangers (who I assume will be a higher standard than L1 couldn't adapt to his style). We were lucky under Enzo, we retained some quality players who could play that style (Winks, KDH, Ndidi, Vestergaard, even Praet was comfortable with the ball) but we just haven't got that quality now and I can't see us being able to recruit the standard of player that will a) drop to L1 b) or have the money to buy them if they would.

If he is available and we are serious about rebuilding I would go for Robins. Give him time. He knows the lower leagues.

If the club want more of the same it will probably be Russell Martin. I don't personally do not rate him.

Rudkin has not gone yet so I am guessing he is still feathering his nest. Depressing. I was offered a free ticket yesterday and declined it. It is so sad to see what has happened. Please Top do something or sell the club.

Bettingodds.com is very limited in scope—it only covers a few bookies, hence why all the odds shown are from talksport bet. Oddschecker, which is much more comprehensive, is not covering our next manager because the vast majority of bookies aren’t offering any odds on it. It’s a very thin market, which tends to result in random names being thrown in.

You could be absolutely bang on mate 😂 I can remember last summer when folk was buzzing about Marti look how that turned out! If RM was our manager last season we ain’t in league one this season either. Who would you want out of that horrible list the bookies have got?
