Amazing how quick teams can announce Theve sacked managers then within a couple of days announced his replacement

Que

lcfc 6 weeks since relegation and nothing

Yeah it's rage inducing how out of touch they are. New manager needs time to sort the ins and outs of squad during pre season.

Not a good sign of things to come for this season, again

Oh god I absolutely don't think he's going to be amazing and solve all our problems. I wouldn't even describe myself as cautiously optimistic anymore.

I just think even a club with as poor footballing intelligence as us must surely now realise Martin is shit.

Yeah I'll give you that, there's huge range of ability between being Elite and thinking Russell Martin is a good option.

Just falling in the mid point between those two would be good enough for me right now.

Nothing learnt from last season

Dearnt sack Rowatt as well be over par ( even more )

be July

repeat shit show from last season

Rowett's contract is up so it's not the same as Van Nistelrooy who we ended up sacking before the start of July anyway. We are just so unorganised and everything has to dance to the tune of Aiyawatt.

Nor BDCR. This goes back to Henry Winter's comment about us being a 'manager's club'. We'd have been targeting a certain type of player under Enzo, then Cooper came in a said he wanted a completely different profile of player so we gave him what he wanted. Then we sacked Cooper a few months later and it turned out those players weren't especially suited to the way RVN wanted to play.

It takes years to assemble a squad—managers can be sacked after a run of 5-6 bad results. It doesn't take a genius to understand that constantly changing your transfer policy at the behest of whoever happens to be manager at the time will result in an incoherent mess of a squad. And that's exactly what happened to us.

And I don't even think it's a 'choice' by the club either - it's simply that there's little to no football based talent and strategy in the structure, above the manager...

Should we start playing polo instead? :P

To be fair, what is the rush! Hear me out.

It's going to be a very very long summer, especially with the World Cup.

We actually don't want to 'rush'. We need to make the right appointment, so timing is everything.

What if we gave it to a guy who is freely available, yet two days later, a more ideal candidate loses his job at another club.

We are in limbo, but we have to time it right.

I find it highly unlikely that many more suitable managerial candidates or player targets will become available due to the World Cup given we’re in League 1.

This is a very good point, but unfortunately we are taking about City here.

Surely it's better to appoint the wrong manager early rather than the wrong manager late, as it's pretty much inevitable  that we won't appoint anyone decent anyway.

Maybe I didn't articulate what i wanted to properly.

You've done a better job.

It's critical we get the right man first time, which I feel lends itself to both our points

It's the same pattern of inaction that has led to a death spiral with 3 relegations in 4 years.

There is a shit load of work to do, and we can't afford to piss around.

Other clubs are appointing managers we could have appointed, leaving us with the dregs.

Other clubs will be agreeing deals with players their manager wants who we could have signed.

We were relegated in April and it's now June. The concept of an appointment being "rushed" is already long gone.

Shall I continue:D

Yes please

Oh totally and I was of course being rather flippant in my response.  This is such a critical hire for us. We can't afford to get it wrong again.

People fall into the trap of thinking we are doing this every time lol

It's not a trap mate. We really need to get this appointment right.

I guess what I'm trying to say is we should neither rush or take too long !

Yes, we really do. We’re in an unusually difficult position: on the one hand, we’re a much bigger club than most others in League One and have enjoyed spectacular success in the past decade, so we should in theory be able to attract some strong candidates; on the other hand, our spectacular fall from grace and financial misdemeanors will likely mean those candidates will need a lot of persuading before agreeing to join us. This process will take time.

In an ideal world we’d recruit the strongest manager possible today so he can get to work before the transfer window opens. However, if the choice is between rushing to recruit a lower quality candidate or waiting longer to appoint a better one, then it has to be the latter.

Do you have confidence in Stan and Ollie doing this, as all I can see is 'Another Fine Mess' they've gotten us into.

I actually don’t think it’s a lack of action… I think it’s too much delusional thinking and a lack of realism. I think they spend too long chasing unrealistic targets.  If it’s true that Top was contacting Maresca and sounding him out about returning… if he even spent a second following that thought then that’s true David Brent management.

Tough choice, but Maresca chose Manchester City instead of us…

I can picture it now

Club Statement

Leicester City Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Gary Rowett as First Team Manager on a two-year contract.

Following a review of the club’s ambitions, the Board has been impressed by Gary’s impact since taking charge. His positive results and recent victories have helped convince us that he is the right man to lead Leicester City forward.

Gary has shown strong leadership and a clear vision for the future. We believe he can guide this club back to the Championship while building a squad that blends exciting young talent with experienced players.

The Board, staff, and players are united behind Gary as we begin this new chapter and work towards bringing success back to Leicester City Football Club.

They are not though are they. Barnsley have gone back to Daniel Stendel, Huddersfield have just given their caretaker the job, Challinor only left Stockport a few days ago.

Of free agents available, let’s be honest, who apart from Challinor is an attractive proposition?

If we don’t turn to Challinor, then I dread to think who we end up turning too, the realistic names in the free agent market is unfortunately full of underwhelming dregs.
