I think his point was actually more shots = exciting football, hence the 'dont know what you people want'. Thing is, i dont want to see a hit and hope shot after 45 sideways passes were the opposition have been given all the time in the world to get in the perfect defensive formation.

We're averaging 15.5 shots per game this season, great.

But our xG is 1.46 - and that doesn't account for the player on the end of it.

Our xGA is 1.45 - so here we are on -2 goals, perfectly mid table.

As you say, the chances we're creating aren't good chances.

One simple question for the press conference..

"Russell,  you have maintained a win percentage below 40 percent throughout your managerial career and your goals against average at all your clubs is around 1.5. What are you doing at Leicester to to improve those crucial metrics?"

More ENERGY.

Our best period was set up by Pearson having time to build something, yet we don’t seem to have any patience with managers these days.

Look at Arteta, we might as well give him a bit of a chance to get his feet under the table instead of just keep hiring and firing repeatedly.

The anger should be directed at the people above him for getting us into this mess, let’s give him half a chance to try get us out of it. He’s been here 5 minutes.

Problem is, we're in League One and we are in very deep poo if we don't get out.

Pearson is different in a couple of ways - one, when he was in charge in this division we went on a 23-game unbeaten run. Two, when we stalled in the Championship he rang the changes.

Martin is showing no signs of doing either.

We've had 357 shots this season.

Not to mention he changed the system and personnel in the PL season which brought about the famous survival. Pearson was an excellent pragmatist.

In addition to this, you could see him try stuff tactically, it failed, then he would adjust it until it worked. That system change to wing backs was tried unsuccessfully against Hull with de laet and Konchesky, before it was adjusted into Schlupp and Albrighton as more attacking wing backs. The 5 at the back was something he had tried for a bit in the championship at various points as well.

Meanwhile, Martin keeps getting done over tactically, but never tries to vary anything in his approach, even things like same build up and style but with modifications to the shape, or going for slightly longer goal kicks etc.

We all know it’s going to end only one way. Let’s hope there is enough time to get someone in before it’s too late. Numb Nuts likes blowing his dad’s money so he might as well piss some more up the wall!

Yeah I don’t disagree, my point was not to compare Pearson and Martin - there is no comparison.

It was just merely stating the fact that we had a period of patience which led to our best period, although as has been pointed out, during Pearson’s tenure the club was for the most part upwardly mobile, which isn’t happening right now under Martin.

1.67 vs 1.42

What happened to getting managers on the way up instead of down

it’s a pretty basic concept

This is why I was happy we didn't go for Mourinho this summer

This is absolutely it, when RM said about 135 shots, he neglected to mention that 119 were blocked before they reached the box. (I made that last stat up but you get the idea).

KDH's improvement was much down to Enzo, similarly Ndidi's form. He also managed our ageing stars Ricardo and Vardy well and generally seems to be a very good man manager whom the players loved.

I realise the football wasn't always great but this constant diminishing of his abilities on this forum is a bit silly.

Really struggling to see how you've come to the conclusion I was diminishing Enzo's abilities. Are you okay?

We've stopped doing this for players too with only Kangasniemi has come in at a good age, with reports of showing good potential and at the right age to push on. I suppose you could make an argument for Bristric at a push.

Cullen, Riis, Burns, Chaplin, Smallbone, Lundstram, McCarthy and O'Hora have all come in and we already know their level is probably League 1/low end Championship and none of them are realistically going to improve on that.

I don't remember a 140 page 'Enzo out' thread '7 games into the season.

The fact that the "Martin Out" Thread was started in June just proves my point. Some supporters were never going to be convinced by Martin, regardless of what he does. Every decision he makes, or doesn't make, becomes further confirmation of an opinion they've already formed. Winning can paper over that for a while, but the first bad result will see many of those same criticisms return almost immediately.

Given how loud that sentiment has been among sections of the fanbase, I don't really have a problem with Martin pushing back. He's a human being, after all. Most people would defend themselves if their work and character were being publicly questioned. The important thing is that he did so respectfully and without personal attacks.

And that's what I don't understand about the criticism of this exchange. What was the response people were expecting? For him to say, "You're right, I'm a terrible manager and I should resign"? There was never an answer he could give that would satisfy people who had already made up their minds. So how exactly was he supposed to win that interaction?

Yes, we have been shit for years. It is up to him to sort it out and he has been given greater tools than the previous incumbents.

Under Enzo we had Vardy, Iheanacho, Mavididi looked like a footballer, Dewsbury-Hall hit his stride and Ndidi was too strong for opposition to handle. Our team is rather different now.

We are at a lower level with the biggest budget and biggest squad, by comparable terms Martin has just as much if not better resources for the level and so far is making a massive pigs ear of it.

This will only end one way for him here or anywhere else. Trying to play a brand of football that only the worlds elite can master.

Give it up as a bad job and make it simpler! Football isnt a complicated game. Play to our strengths FFS.
