Couple of hundred grand max for a 27yr old that the gaffer has worked well with before and is the second profile striker he was talking about needing - that runs his socks off and should have some real quality at league one level

him and Chaplin are the perfect kind of pros we need around the place

If it that I can live with it.

But I think it will be more.

You think they are selling someone who made 40 apps last season and has 2 year left on his contract for a couple 100k?

Just ignoring the fact that he played striker under RM and has played as a striker for the majority of his career then?

Someone else also posted something from RM himself where he spoke about Liam Cullen and the fact that he can play up front or on the wing. So perfectly covers the two problem positions that we are crying out for?

I think the issue is that he's only good up top in a two man strike force, bit like the Ozaki role. If we choose to play a false 9 or use him wide then he could be successful. No Swansea fans are questioning his commitment or work ethic just lack of pace and goals. So he could work in the right system for us but odd player to pay a fee for unless it's absolutely peanuts.

Majority of those as a sub - surplus to requirements and allows them to bring someone else in - he isn’t a great 10 in the championship but as a false 9 in league one who can play all over the place he ‘should’ do a very good job as that second striker for us for absolute peanuts and dare I say again - he is 27 not 31 and he can run and works hard unlike some previous signings and wages will be peanuts - maybe a tenth of what ayew was on - crap comparison really

I suspect it’s going to be more than that.

I'll give you five matches until you tire of seeing our youth fail to see out games or do everything but score. We're in a position where our more experienced players are part of one of the more disgraceful eras of the club, I get there will be this hasty, OTT thought process of not wanting to see a 24yo+ on the pitch again but there is 100% room for the right bit of experience in a squad full of kids.

Who's the 24 year old we've signed may I ask? I'm not just talking about kids, but Braybrooke and Alves who should be given a fair crack! So far we've signed Chaplin at 29 (could be a decent addition) and an ancient keeper who is going to be No 1 from everything I've gathered...can't wait to watch him mince about with it at the back!

Where’s the confidence in that?

Two years left on his deal at Swansea. They will want seven figures at least

Cullen can play as a left footed winger, well, how about this, could he actually (!) play as a LEFT winger (I know, radical, hey!)? In other words, could he be a replacement for a departing Mavididi?!

Even if not playing as a winger, but as a central striker, I think he could work, playing in a (similar style) 'two up front' with Chaplin. I agree, his signing does threaten a (potentially wonderful) midfield of Braybrooke, Alves & Page.

No way - will be 6 figures and spread out over a few years - his salary will be peanuts as well

hardly a shock that we are after squad players from the championship that have the right attitude and workrate

Only Leicester could spend £100m on a training ground and then spend the next 5 years filling it with muck because they can't actually be arsed to scout for players.

You simply can't say that this is value for money. Every bit of success we've had is from building a scouting network that searches for players that fit our ethos, fit our style of play, fill holes in the team and all for a reasonable price. Why can't we go back to that?

Definitely not a couple hundred grand

Reportedly valued around £2.5 million not that online reported valuations mean a lot

he’s also still got 2 years left on his contract

I’d be shocked if it’s any less than £1.5m

Agree to disagree - I’ll be shocked if it’s 7 figures - we ain’t paying that for anyone in our current state

We won't be paying that much surely?

we are skint

People saying we will pay him peanuts, and the transfer will be small, have you hidden under a rock for the last 5 years.

This is the club that paid 7m for Ajew, 20m for Skipp and 14m for Okoli, 8m for Coady the list goes on.

We had the large wage bill for a load of dross in the championship.

Over night we are going to change and get everything done on the cheap.

Been at Swansea since he was 9. If his playing time was going to be limited and he wanted a move they are not going to price him out.

Given this and our own financial situation I'd imagine any fee would be nominal.

I can’t see how we are not paying seven figures

logic and the madness of football finances tells us that

people can think what they want of him as a player, I just don’t logically see a championship regular with 2 years on a contract going for any less

if by some miracle we got him for a couple of hundred grand, then then McCarron’s negotiating skills are on genius/god like levels
