Meanwhile we don’t give Sam Evans, a specialist opener, a run at three. We bring in Rhodes from another county’s second team, and throw him straight in.

I just can’t see any logic at all in this. Indeed I think we gave Hassan, a proven run scorer, a 2 year contract, and Rhodes 3. Utterly baffling.

Unless he didn’t want to sign for 3 years.......Notts will be calling by then.

There is a lack of steel in the club. It takes too long to cut deadwood dry.

Probably because of the over generous contracts for the average and thinner contracts for the decent ones.

Shambles.

I was told about an ECB rescue plan for County today, Via a conversation my friend had with Roy Bent.

He was told we would not be having an overseas player for 5 years! I'm not sure what this rescue package looks like? Does anyone else?

I mean the 4 million pounds we owe to David Wilson, 4 million, not alot of money in the modern world.

Can we not get a few investors to assist. So anyone know any more?

There needs to be some transparency from the club on this. Priority in terms of contracts should be one overseas player that can make a difference and bring in crowds, not 2 or 3 Minor Counties standard players.

How have we managed to accrue a debt of £4 million to one person and over which period of time? That should never be possible for a club of our resources and income. It was never the case in the past that we had such debts, in fact we had reserves to draw on in the case of a small deficit each year.

I got all this second hand so I don't want to alarm people could be wrong. It would appear the loan was for player wages etc. Seems odd I agree.

Not that it looks like we will be getting an overseas but watching the CPL it was stated that a few guys in the Barbados side keen on county cricket to get into the Windies side.

Raymon Rieffer was one player mentioned. Wouldn't be to pricey

Nico did so e coaching in the West Indies so you would assume he would have contacts there.

To be able to play county cricket as an overseas pro certain criteria has to be met, they have to of played a certain amount of international cricket etc

My understanding is that the overall debt stands at £4M David Wilson just wants his money back from the loan he gave the club to cover costs.Surely the extra£1.3M guaranteed from the hundred for the next 5 years should give the club  some leaway.Think Rhodes could do with a visit to specsavers clean bowled again he was nowhere near it why we gave him a 3 year contract and have put him on the payroll this season God only knows

After his initial promise he’s caught the Leicestershire bug.

Overall debt at £4 million is still pretty astonishing. I agree it's extraordinary we effectively start paying Rhodes early when we are in such financial strife and have plenty of others on the payroll who could have made up the XL.

How the **** have we got ourselves £4m in debt. Seriously, how? What the **** have we spent it on, are the railings made of gold? I'd love to know how much of it was on shite players we had to pay off from McDonald's legacy. Or the Carberry fiasco.

it doesn't help that there appears to be no external influence holding the County to account. The Mercury, online at least, appears to have zero LCCC coverage, and Rich Rae, who provides lovely commentary online, clearly doesn't feel it is his role to ask questions of the management. Thus we are left with no official line on anything, which is of course when rumours emerge.

Yes there used to be regular coverage in The Leicester Mercury and a dedicated cricket correspondent - Martin Johnson and Jon Culley in my time, who both moved on. Now it's whether any articles surface in The Cricketer or on ESPNCricinfo.com (George Dobell has been excellent in revealing what goes on in the county game).
