I am back at work now, but during the couple of months working from home I found the more I dress like I would for a normal work day the more productive I was.

Only issue here is I like a skinny denim, don't get me wrong I'm not castration by stonewash but I like an element of taughtness - great for the fashion hotspots of Birstall or Jubilee Square but stuck in the home with a Mac piping out hot air leaves me restless

The wife and i painted our basement over the last 3 days. About 700sq feet of livable space. We've been working on finishing it since we moved in 2 year ago. Just got to paint the stairway, install the new stair tread/risers and put caulk everywhere . Nice to see we are almost at the finish line.

There are specialist basement paints you can buy in this country to cope with the damp underground, very expensive though. I don't know if that's a problem in Canada?

Depends where you live i suppose. We live in an area that has more water in the ground so have a sump pump etc. Also can get the humidifiers and dehumidifiers hooked up your furnace to help etc. I've also installed a subfloor to help in the event of water leaks but that is standard practice here (or should be).

I worry about my sanity during this lockdown.....

 

I had a vaguely erotic dream about the Spice Girls last night. In real life, I have no interest in them, never mind dreaming about them.

Taking a few days off, I’ve been flat out for weeks working because I was worried it would die off.

My subcontract work has tailed off massively but my own stuff is taking off really well. With all the petty crime, riots and protests I think people just want home surveillance to ease their minds. Keep up the good work scumbags.

It's funny how a crisis like this can affect different occupations.

 

In April, demand for my translation service was busier than it had been for several years - mainly translating texts about Covid impact/responses in other countries.

May was OK, but slightly down on usual. In June, demand absolutely fell off a cliff. I presume most of the need for Covid info has been satisfied, but the demand generated by business activity has yet to return.

Hopefully that's a temporary lull, as firms get going again (though August is always quiet due to the long summer holidays they take on the continent)....and even redundancies/restructuring can create work for me, not just booming business.

I'll start to worry if September & October are completely dead....

I’m not sure what this says about me but the last dream I can remember I attended a stag do dressed as Alice In Wonderland.

 

Not only that, I was the only person dressed in fancy dress but was it a conventional stag do you ask? No, this was one of them where you just spend all day running down hills, you know the type.

Mostly before my work was generated by Subcontract, I didn’t advertise my services to domestic work and just took it as it comes but before lockdown restrictions were eased I decided to advertise as I felt I hadn’t heard enough encouragement from these companies. My instincts thankfully proved it was right and I could never have predicted the response. It’s a bit more cutthroat at this end of the market but you have to adapt to make money right?

Sounds a bit Simpsonsesque, Homer starts fitting alarms because a spate of break ins around Springfield. The alarms are doing their jobs and the criminals (Just Snake actually) are caught, demand for alarms decreases. Strokes, I mean Homer, starts committing crimes himself to increase the demand again before getting caught and having to hand over all the goods.
