What grinds my gears...

Disappointed to see supermarket workers being disrespected by some. Might not be as important as NHS staff but we've had to carry on throughout all of this, often made harder by inconsiderate arse holes. Yeah it's not an admirable job but we have families too which have been put at risk by our continued exposure to the public

I wasn't disrespecting supermarket workers, and I certainly get on with most of them, but there's a fair few that simply stand gossiping. I went to pick something up the other week and two staff members were stood in the way talking, this holds everything up. Did that "grind my gears"? Yes.

You didn't cause offence mate. I think some people do give others a bad name but in all honesty inconsiderate customers are making the job almost impossible so maybe that's causing staff to have a 'what's the point' kind of attitude.

As for wearing a mask, there are quite a few at my place wearing them but there's no way I could wear one for the 60 hours a week I've been doing. I get really claustrophobic and have problems breathing due to a nose break years ago. I can assure you every member of staff I work with are regularly washing their hands and using anti bacterial gel

That's good to hear. And as for not being an admirable job, I don't think people realise how hard staff work in places like Aldi and Asda etc. 60 hrs a week is crippling if you're on your feet all day. I have noticed in Asda, staff seem to rotate around different roles; on day they're on a till or the self checkouts helping customers and verifying the "unexpected item in the bagging area", next day I've seen the same staff collecting trolleys or manning the security desk. Had to laugh the other week though, the security person for that day had a shoplifter leg it through the doors and she attempted to chase her but she was so overweight that she barely made it into the car park before she gave up.

I'm getting a little worried about people.

Just been on Facebook people I just viewed as totally normal straight up for years, seem to be showing their gullibility and  prejudice, not using the R word.

For all the crap that went on with the loons in London yesterday, attacking the police etc. Someone decides to share some post about some veteran being attacked. Who knows if there's any truth to it the photo shows a total ruck , you can't really identify anyone or anything happening. All that happened yesterday and this is the one thing they decided to focus on.

I love this country but there is a sizeable minority who live here I'm beginning to despise.

There was a photo shared by quite a few 'friends' after the protests last week with 4 coppers injured. None of the photos were from the protests and perhaps ironically, a couple of them were from a Tommy Robinson protest a couple of years ago :frusty:

Still shocks me how family and Friends will share un verified photo's on Facebook.  This person stole from an old lady, this person didn't wear a Poppy until 3rd November etc .

They've no way of knowing how true any of it is

Facebook is an absolute cesspit, full of people that haven’t advanced to other social media platforms and still take everything as gospel because there’s a picture with some words next to it.

Not just Facebook though, morons on either side will happily point out any wrongdoing on the other side and blindly ignore any of their own. It’s so ****ing boring and predictable.

Facebook, Twitter, I really don't know why intelligent people bother with any of it

Only use Facebook these days for the "Spotted" account for my local town; the questions the cretins post absolutely make my day lol

Received rip off car insurance renewal quote which somehow I've got on auto renewal. Go on the website and there is absolutely no option to reject the renewal on the site even by e-mail and apparently I have to phone them.

Literally no reason why there cannot be a button on there to reject, it's a load of bollocks.

One of the reasons I ditched it. A couple years back now. That plus people making out their life is great when in reality it's just normal like everybody else's.

Absolutely staggers me the amount of shite people used to post. All their holiday photos. I never understood.

I got rid of Facebook around 6 years ago. I didn’t use it that much but got fed up of people tagging, sharing and liking absolute drivel. Also now whenever people say “have you seen so & so on Facebook” when you tell them you haven’t got it it just kills the conversation dead which is good.

Deleted mine about 18 months ago. Great decision. The Mrs just sits scrolling through all the time. Drives me nuts.

This too. And they are the same people allowing you in and out of the store. They've been given a power they never dreamt of when they were told they would be mostly collecting trolleys when they applied for a job.

Wow, I’m incredibly proud of my daughter who got a part time job at the  Co Op just before the pandemic and has worked throughout the whole lockdown (she’s a student) I applaud the supermarket workers for their efforts

Yes it's Hastings, managed to get a quote for nearly half what their renewal was.

Bizzarely enough, last year I paid £300 and their renewal was for £350. But I managed to get it for £288 by using Go Compare's current "£250 excess back" offer (means I could raise the voluntary excess, lowering the quote).

The insurer - Hastings

I would have gone with someone else but it was £20 cheaper than any one else. Just shows you how much they try and shaft you on renewals though.

I seem to have an issue with insurance every year. My renewal this year was 405, I paid 380 last year. Went on compare the market and they are doing a good offer with AA insurance, got a quote for 330 plus 15 for a years breakdown cover. Phoned my insurance to stop renewal, they asked my reason for leaving, told them my much lower quote and they didn't even bother to try and compete with it and keep me.

Lowest I've ever paid for insurance, but at 27 I find it odd the AA have me down on a "young driver policy" (all that means is I need to provide extra docs).

Strange as hell that. I thought young drivers were considered 17-24.

Whole system is shite though. I've been driving for 12 years, got 9 years no claims. (was joint driver when starting out since we were poor as hell) never had a conviction or even a bump, mum's insurance is still half of mine even though she's had 1 car written off and 2 speeding tickets. Makes no sense.

Went with Hastings this year will have to watch out for the auto renewal next spring.

Sky/Virgin, Mobile Contracts, they are all the same though aren't they. Swapping insurers is something I do every year, maybe one day enough will actually make the effort to make them realise they actually need to be competitive to retain the business.

I’ve been off it for over 3 years now, don’t miss it one bit, I left it  during a tricky time in my life and will never go back.

I got fed up of people posting what they’re having for dinner (just why?) and look what I’ve just bought etc..... but the biggest irritation was people just posting “feeling sad today” inviting questions as to why....🙄 just so very very boring.
