Father in law, with Mrs FFF'S support, call Virgin retentions. He is on a basic package with NO tv and is now paying £55. He has been a customer for 27 years. The conversation went something like this:

'Can you please try and reduce my package price.'

'Yes sir we can offer you a loyalty discount of £5'

'Nah, I'll cancel and leave.'

'One moment sir.......... I have just spoken with my manager and he has authorised another  £3 reduction. Making £8 in total.'

'Nope. Put me through to cancellations'

 

Cancellations offer him a £15 reduction.

 

'No I'm off. Disgraceful how you treat long time, loyal customers.'

 

Within 2 hours they ring him back offering to match a Sky deal he was offered.

He is now getting the exact same package as before for £25. Less than half what he was paying.

It’s just absolutely insane. I swear the last year or so with COVID has made people go mad with the most weird shit. £20k cos a girl was crying on the big screen and there were a few cheers.

Fvkin hell, that is so stupid and bizarre. No one know her background, if she comes from a wealthy background then what is the point in giving her that money vs a charity?

 

The flipside is if she gets to nominate what charity it goes to then she gets the feel good factor of effectively giving money to charity and the kudos with it, which attempts to make up for the whole thing. Thats the only win win I can see here.
