What grinds my gears...

Recommended Posts

Kids.

They've just broken up from school for the holidays, God knows why it was at 1pm on a Tuesday, but still.

It's nearly 30 degrees outside and they're both sat in their rooms on Tiktok or the PlayStation

Then they'll moan there's nothing to do and they're bored at about half 8 tonight.

Slap some sunscreen on them and kick them out to the nearest park. Plenty of time for video games later on tonight.

Innit. You even offer to take them places/do something with them and they just look at you like you're mental.

The Amazon advert with the woman who has a lot of very neatly stacked boxes in the back of her van.

That's about an hours work at most.

Loading your van like that would take more time, but after 16 minutes, the yard marshall's would be screaming at you asking what was taking so fvcking long lol

Although I guess an advert featuring me, sweating my balls off in my Leicester shirt, with 300 parcels rammed in, so you literally can't move in the back wouldn't look as good?

It is a mystery to me how you find the parcel for the house you are parked in front of.

All the parcels are stacked inside big hard sided plastic bags. Typically have 10 to 12 bags with about 20 parcels in. Then your device tells you which bag it's in and what type of parcel it it (envelope, box, polybag etc.) Usually you work through 1 bag at a time. I empty the bag inside the cab so I don't have to keep going in the back.

The problem is the oversized parcels. You can have up to 40 of them just loose in the back. Literally anything from giant bags of dog food to microwaves and TV's. Finding them can be a pain.

Yes it is. I'm finding it scary how credulous people can be.

My Mother in law has NPD, and I swear she can convince people of anything.  Mainly how awful we are, how badly we have treated her and how sad she is not to see her Grandkids.  Meanwhile she has made no effort whatsoever to apologise or otherwise make any amends, or even ask why we cut off contact (something she claims not to know).  nearly 10 years of relative peace so far :)

Celebrity Gogglebox.

Celebrity. Gogglebox.

I really can’t decide which half of that is worse.

Glad to hear about the relative peace.

Without making light of a serious family situation, I did enjoy this pun!

Fecking Hermes.

Today I had an email saying "your delivery window is 2-4pm". Only problem was I didn't receive that email until 2:34pm. And the driver turned up 7 mins later. By the time I'd seen the email at 2:45pm, he'd been and gone. I was only in the back garden too FFS.

Don’t take your work phone on holiday. Ignore.

I know it can be complicated depending on your profession etc. If it were life and death or could lead to your company/employer going belly up i get it. Anything else, piss off! Lol

Just a few 'grinds my gears' that currently come to mind:

1) Parents who call there children 'Aurora'. Why? Pointless name mostly used by chavy parents trying to be unique

2) People who use Anxiety/depression as a excuse because someone/something has disagreed with them. e.g. "this is getting my angso up!" (I've been diagnosed with this condition before so i can have a strong opinion on it)

3) Foxestalk threads that go 'hot' due to being hijacked with conversations not relevant to the topic heading

When I worked in the U.K. this was a dream but now I work in the US they expect us to do business off our personal phones. Not an excuse cos I put that on airplane on holiday days I REALLY need, but an interesting cultural distinction that I’ve found.

That’s harsh. Especially as the US employers give such poor holiday allowances.
